After waiting a year for Jacob to catch a hint, Madeline worked up the courage to message Jacob for their one year friendversary. When Jacob finally agreed to celebrate this occasion, they quickly realized opposites attract. Their first year and a half included many miles of adventures across the midwest and beyond. After exploring their favorite places, playing many rounds of golf and enjoying countless dutch letters, they decided it was time to take their adventures to Kansas City as a couple. Kansas City became their first home together, where their love for brews and barbecue flourished. Between cheering for the Chiefs, soaking up the sun at Smithville Lake and conquering their bucket lists together, Jacob realized it was time for Miss Sheldahl to be called a new name. While visiting Madeline's cousin, Olivia, and her husband, Sam, in Salt Lake City, Jacob planned the most epic surprise. Little did he know, Madeline had her own surprise for Jacob's birthday! She took Jacob sky diving over the Great Salt Lake. Only a special few knew of Jacob's plan, so as he was parachuting back to the earth, he decided to entrust his sky diving instructor with his secret. That night, Sam and Olivia took Jacob and Madeline on a hike to Ensign Peak. When they reached the top, they took in the sunset views. After stopping to take a photo, Sam cued Jacob stating, "This one is for real," and instead of smiling for another photo, Jacob turned to Madeline, got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him!
