Sunday Fundays have always been our favorite, however October 23rd 2011 was a day we would not forget. We were both with different groups at the Brooksider Bar in Kansas City watching the Chiefs Oakland game and were introduced through a mutual friend. Britt thought nothing of it but after the Chiefs smoked the Raiders (28-0) our groups joined in a celebration and the rest is history!
Yes, the (long awaited) proposal happened on a Sunday, which happened to be Mike's birthday, however, it was actually planned for a couple of days before. Mike's brother and girlfriend, Joe and Kari, had the ring and were flying into Fort Worth from Omaha to celebrate Mike's birthday with us and their flight was cancelled on Friday due to weather. Unfortunately, there were no available flights until Sunday, which really was not an option according to Mike and Joe. They were on the phone with the airline for hours and luckily were able to fly in Saturday. Mike had a very special plan all ready to go on Friday that he’d put a lot of thought into, but God had other plans (or just testing our patience). Mike proposed Sunday at Joe T Garcias with all of our Fort Worth friends in the gorgeous gardens, and I was completely caught off guard - it was Mike’s day! I would have worn workout clothes to lunch, but Kari really pushed me to get it together, which now I know why and appreciate it!! We spent the day toasting and celebrating and topped the perfect day off with all of our friends in Dallas celebrating our engagement and Mike's birthday in the best way possible...on a party bus!
