Our Story!

Ryan and I first met as freshmen at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Although we were in each others lives since the beginning of college, our story wasn’t exactly love at first sight (from my perspective, sorry Ryan). We like to tell people that we were always “one friend group removed", close enough to know of each other, but never quite close enough to actually build a friendship. We’d see each other here and there, usually at different sporting events like intramural soccer games or sand volleyball matches, but nothing ever really came of it. I quickly noticed how good Ryan was at everything and how much people liked being around him, I surely thought there's no way he was a good guy. Fast forward to the spring of junior year, when we both ended up on a Good Friday camping trip. For the first time, we actually had a real conversation, and to my surprise, I had judged a book by its cover. I realized he was a pretty great guy and that we had a lot in common. Summer came, and we went our separate ways. I found myself checking in every now and then, but had no intention behind it. When senior year rolled around, Ryan asked me to grab coffee because he wanted to hear about my summer. I agreed, reluctantly, and about five minutes before, I panicked and ended up inviting two of our friends to tag along (thanks Mia and Jackson). Soon after, I began leading a ministry on campus and Ryan started volunteering. After some late-night dinners and hangs on the quad, we had built a solid friendship. I'll let Ryan tell you the story of how I sat him down and asked him if he was interested or not. Let's just say I was not going to admit any feelings unless he said it first. Then December came. Ryan was graduating and we went our separate ways for five weeks. We ended up talking on the phone for hours every single day. We starting dating January 23rd, 2024 and quickly fell in love shortly after. On May 23rd, 2025, Ryan proposed in his hometown with both of our families there to celebrate. It was the sweetest, most joy-filled weekend. We truly believe it was only the Lord and his timing that could have brought us together. We pray that our wedding day can be a celebration of his grace and mercy on our lives. Two imperfect people who love a perfect savior. See you on March, 7th! Love, The Future Hagues
