We're getting married!!!

👰‍♀️ - Maci 🤵‍♂️- Diego 👰‍♀️ Who would have thought 14 years ago that I would meet my Prince Charming while playing co-ed city league soccer? To be honest, not me! Before co-ed soccer even started, I had seen him once in Ms. Hill's Child Development class wearing one of those pregnancy simulation suits. Of course Diego would be the one to try that on! 🤵‍♂️ Hey, I was just fully committing to the curriculum! But seriously, when I saw her on that soccer field, I was completely smitten. When she encouraged me to join the Practicum of Education class with her that school year, there was no way I was saying no. 👰‍♀️ After spending a couple of months together in class, we finally went on a group date to a haunted house. That night, he asked me to be his girlfriend. 👰‍♀️ After I graduated, I stayed close to home for school. Then Diego graduated and headed to Austin to attend Concordia University to play soccer. We spent seven years together, but with me coaching and Diego finishing college, the constant back and forth became difficult. Eventually, we drifted apart for about three years. 🤵‍♂️ Even though the distance and our busy schedules forced us apart for a while, she never really left my mind. Austin is a great city, but it always felt like a piece was missing. 👰‍♀️ Then, one random night while I was at a concert in Austin with one of my bridesmaids, Bethany, something just made me text Diego. And truly, the rest is history. 🤵‍♂️ Getting that text was the best surprise of my life. We met up, and it was like no time had passed at all. 👰‍♀️ Since finding our way back to each other, music has practically become the soundtrack of our relationship. We’ve traveled all over for concerts, singing our hearts out at other shows, and most memorably shouting every single lyric together at Taylor Swift concerts. 🤵‍♂️ I never thought I’d be a certified Swiftie, but trading friendship bracelets and dancing with her in a stadium full of thousands of people? I’d do it a million times over. 👰‍♀️ Since finding our way back to each other, we've shared so many of life's highs and lows together. We experienced the heartbreak of losing our sweet dog, Bentli, who will always hold a special place in our hearts. 🤵‍♂️ Bentli was the best boy, and losing him was incredibly hard. But going through that together only showed us how strong of a team we really are. Today, we’re blessed with two lovable Australian Shepherds, Bear and Opal, who keep life exciting and fill our home with so much joy. 👰‍♀️ It really is true what they say: "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours." After all the years, the miles, and the twists and turns life brought our way, we found our way back to each other. 🤵‍♂️ I knew 14 years ago she was the one, and I'm just grateful the universe brought her back to me.
