Aimee and Matt's story begins the way any great romance does: by chance, with mutual friends, and at a questionable (now closed down) bar in San Diego. It was 2019, they were both on vacation. Aimee living in Arizona at the time, and Matt living in Utah. Just a week and a half later, he showed up in Arizona, possibly with a line about “Needing to make his way to the wild west” And from there they both kept showing up in Utah and Arizona. After about a year and a half, Aimee moved to Utah to start her master’s degree—and, you know, hang out with Matt. 2020 rolled around, and with it came Ollie, their black doodle, a dog that immediately assumed the role of their child, and professional trash raider. Then Matt took off for army training in South Carolina, and Aimee stayed in Utah to hang out with Ollie. But true to form, they didn’t let distance stop them. After Matt’s training, they headed to Arizona for a year, where the weather was very hot and people could fry eggs on the street in the middle of April. Then by the way of Uncle Sam, they came to Pennsylvania. Matt works in West Virginia in the Army full time and is working on his Master's at Georgetown, and Aimee works in Pittsburgh as a nurse. They spend their time hiking, skiing, laughing at each other’s bad jokes, and sharing oreos. For the record, they’ve tried 90% of all Oreo flavors. The thin stuffed mint ones reign it at #1. Life has truly showed that it is less about the perfect plan and more about who you look forward to sharing your snacks with. And a sweet dog to keep you on your toes.
