We met on May 20, 2018 at our friends Brechyn and Spencer's house. As Ashley remembers it, Matt was aware of the set-up and showed up freshly showered and looking very hunky. She showed up after a day of moving, no shower and no makeup. As Matt remembers it, he had just settled in on an exciting afternoon consisting of ice cold beers and golf (not actually golfing, but watching it on tv). He received a text that Ashley was at their house. He pulled himself together and made the long journey down street. Ashley was there, looking beautiful in a sleeveless t-shirt, shorts and dark sunglasses. They sat next to each other, made small talk, and discussed the finer points of home ownership, specifically the additional costs and headaches that come with them. Ashley was closing on her house the following week and Matt thought he could somehow talk her out of closing on their first meeting. Well he didn't, and the evening ended with an awkward handshake and us going our separate ways. Little did we know, but the next day we both asked Brechyn for each others numbers. Matt actually called (no text!) to ask me on our first date. We fell in love quickly and never looked back.

Matt woke me up on a Sunday morning after I worked a very long day and was exhausted. First he asked me to go on a hike and I was so annoyed he was not taking pity in me and letting me rest. After refusing to go on a hike he asked me to at least go to the grocery store with him. But he looked extra cute to go to the grocery store so I started to get suspicious… I got myself ready looking sort of cute but not too cute to give it away that I suspected something was about to happen. As we got into the car he said do you think the sunflower fields are still there? Maybe we can stop on the way to the store. GAME ON. He was not very sneaky but it was still very sweet and perfect. It was very early in the morning so nobody was is in the sunflower fields. We awkwardly roamed around for a little while until he finally dropped to a knee and popped the question. I think we both blacked out and neither really remember what he said. We snapped a selfie to remember the moment. It was the best day.
