The Story of Us

First comes friends.. then comes Marriage.

Our stories became intertwined some odd 15 years ago in our hometown of Charlotte, NC. Doing what most bible believing youth do on a Wednesday night in Charlotte - attending a local youth group, which for us just so happened to be at Central Church, while we weren't the best of friends, we had many a mutual friend and shared an occasional "hi" and "hello" but nothing much more beyond that. Years went by and life took us in many directions, Robert moved to New York, Chicago, and Israel working with Jews for Jesus after graduating college, and I moved to South Dakota, and then North Dakota working for a health care system in a marketing and foundation development capacity after graduating college. It had certainly been well over 10 years since we had last seen each other, of course there would be an occasional acknowledgement, or reaction to something posted on Facebook, but nothing more. Until one day when I had received a follow request on Instagram from Robert, and immediately followed him back, and then took it a step farther and sent him a "DM" (Direct Message) *very platonically I might add. * Just to catch up and see where and how life was treating him. The conversation lasted for days, I learned about just how cowboy he was, how he worked in construction, loved a rodeo, riding bikes, sushi or pizza, and drinking a Busch Latte. How he had a solid group of friends he cared deeply about. (The proof was always in his busy weekend plans). Most importantly just how much he LOVED the Lord, and his Jewish heritage. He learned that I traveled for work a lot, that I loved spending time with family and friends, my deep dependence on coffee, just how much I love going on a good run and a good glass of wine, but most importantly for him - just how much I LOVED the Lord. Like I mentioned, we talked for days and finally decided to take our conversation offline and FINALLY meet up in person, we got deep in conversation fast, caught up on our lives and adventures, what we were excited about, and with more dates, just what we expected from a true relationship that would lead into marriage... WELL. Fast forward two years later, and here we are, still having the same date nights, we’re still talking about the adventures we'll go on, what we expect from our relationship and marriage, and everything in-between. Everything that once was communicated as "I" will do this, has now become "we will do this." And our wedding day marks the ultimate date night where we stand before God, family, and friends not just to see two stories intertwined, but the beginning of two lives being lived as one. If you are here, it's because you have played an integral part of who we are, and we are excited that you will be here to help us celebrate the start of our lives together! With Love, Robert & Nike.
