Our Story

When teammates become soulmates

Our love story began based on a foundation of friendship through athletics, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We officially met in the summer of 2011 (although Anthony remembers Heidi catching his eye at a track event in 2010, and it is likely they've crossed paths for years prior). We were teammates from day 1! Heidi remembers meeting Anthony that summer in Mammoth, CA during the annual Cross Country trip where both the men and women's teams would spend a week running in the mountains. From 7am practice to weekend races through both Cross Country and Track seasons, we inevitably spent a whole lot of time together! Fast forward to Valentine's Day 2013, after some trial and error of Anthony asking Heidi to go on dates, we went on our first official date to Caroline's Seaside Cafe in La Jolla. From that point forward, what started as a strong, fun, adventurous friendship as teammates grew into a love that will last a lifetime. We were even neighbors at one point, and soon spent time together making dinner, night swimming, hitting the library for hours, beach days/surf lessons, and just spending genuine time together. The kicker was Heidi soon had to head to Minnesota for grad school, and we really didn't know what would happen. We soon after confirmed that not even two years apart would interfere with what we have, and here we are 8 years later! We keep each other on our toes, love to adventure and run together, prank each other (more like Anthony pranking Heidi), and always find something to laugh about. We really are best friends and take care of each other. From teammates to best friends to soulmates, we can't wait for our future and for you to be part of our special day!

The Proposal

Chasing Waterfalls for a Fiance

Aloha, Fiance! It wouldn't be us if Anthony didn't pop the question somewhere adventurous, unexpected, in the outdoors. It was our first trip to Hawaii and it actually was a trip for Heidi to visit a friend who lives there, Anthony originally wasn't going. Anthony found out his two good friends were also on the same island during that time, it turned into more of a group trip to see both of our friends. It crossed Heidi's mind a few times that maybe, just MAYBE, he would propose. With it being somewhat last minute, Heidi thought there's no way it would work out in time. But then.. before we know it.. Anthony is clenching the ring for dear life over a rushing waterfall while Heidi stands in shock and excitement trying to figure out which hand is her left hand. It was our third day in Hawaii and we planned to go on a morning waterfall hike with Heidi's friends and Anthony's friends as one bigger group. The weather went in between rain for a few seconds to bright and sunny and we all just had a good time chatting among ourselves on the trail. For a SPLIT second Heidi thought "this would be a perfect opportunity..." but quickly she dismissed the thought. We get to the top of the waterfall and immediately Heidi jumps in. We all hang around for a while, take our photos, and eventually think about heading back. It wasn't until Anthony wanted "one last photo" (which he never does) and Heidi's friend is helping her fix her makeup (she didn't care mascara was running down her face, we're in the jungle), and everyone started to gather around with their phones--Heidi thought, "only one person needs to take this photo..what's going on?" Heidi sensed Anthony was getting nervous, which made Heidi nervous.. and she saw in his back pocket the shape only a ring box could be... he asked Heidi to be the love of his life, and of course she said yes! We will never forget Hamama Falls, Hawaii where this special moment took place on February 16th 2019.
