We’re getting married!

Garrett and I met our senior year of high school after he moved to Alaska from Texas. We were introduced by one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Holly Boyle. She also so happened to be Garrett’s aunt. I instantly felt butterflies and had this gut feeling that we were meant to be. I didn’t know how or what to say when I met him, I couldn’t help but to smile and awkwardly say “hello.” Fast forward days later, I saw Garrett sitting in Ms. Hollys classroom. Me being my shy self I asked one of my friends to take my phone to him to add him on my social media.. looking back now I laugh at how shy I was. From that day on, we clicked and each day since we’ve grown to have an inseparable bond. I can honestly say that I am marrying my best friend and believe that our story is and forever will be a love at first sight type of beginning. Now three eventful years later we got engaged and that could not have been more amazing and perfectly planned out! Garrett, Christi, and I went to Alyeska to go snowboarding for the day and I had no idea what was going to happen. I figured they both wanted to go to alyeska because that’s a hobby we all shared. Let me be completely truthful when I tell you that I was not having the best attitude that day. I wasn’t really into the idea of snowboarding or much of anything at that moment. We did a few passes on the small hill then decided we’d take a break in the cafeteria. For a while they both kept insisting on me going up to the big hill, which I continued to decline.. multiple times! Finally after much convincing I chose to go, still not fully in the mood to do so but I went. Keep in mind I’m clueless to what was about to happen. We get to the top of the hill, latch up our boards and down we went. Garrett at this point had called me down the hill a little further and I’m thinking to myself why is Christi stopped above us.. What is she doing and why is she getting her phone out? Then Garrett starts taking his board off and I began to piece together what was happening! He crouched down on his knee and all that I remember saying out of my mouth is “OMG, OMG, No way!”. As he proceeds to tell me how much he loves me and how he wants to spend the rest of our lives together, he pulls out the ring… of course I said “Yes!”. From there we went to chair 5 restaurant for a celebratory dinner. Christi had announced to the entire restaurant that we had just gotten engaged and bought a bottle of champagne to celebrate us with everyone. It was one of the most special days in my life and I couldn’t imagine it happening any other way!
