Jesse and I met on a dating app called Plenty of Fish (POF). We still debate on who messaged who first but we both agreed that this felt right. - CW
When we first started talking, Chelsea was visiting family in Colorado. We would message back and forth, getting to know each other and talk about our day. I was so eager to meet her in person and wanted our first date to go as perfect as possible! We had planned a fun beach day at Luna Pier in Michigan where she would bring the sandwiches and I would bring the sides, enjoying it all as the sun set over the lake. We both parked and boy was I nervous and I could tell she was feeling the same. I had always kept a football in my car and figured as a good 'ice breaker' I asked her if she knew how to throw one. She scoffed as if I had just insulted her. She threw me one of the best passes I had seen and at that moment I knew I had a real winner. As we were settling down to enjoy our dinner we could see very dark stormy clouds rolling in and in a matter of seconds watched as the rain fell closer and closer to us. We scurried to pack up and sprinted to her Jeep. Both of us did not want this first date to end. We both didn't really know the area too well so we hoped on our phones to find a restaurant to shelter us from the storm. We found a place called...Public House. BINGO lets give that a try! I hoped in my car and tailed her to the location. I feel it needs to be mentioned that I felt like I was trying to keep up with Speed Racer here, taking hair pin turns at Mach 5. After circling the block once or twice trying to find the restaurant, we made it safe and sound. We walked in, sat down, and just looking across the table as she read the menu a smile on my face just would not leave. I was so happy we didn't let a storm stop this date. I knew I was hooked! - JG
I had just gotten back from a work trip in Germany and was not expecting a ring before the new year. While I was away, Jesse used this time to drive down to my parents and ask permission for my hand. Once I returned, I had told Jesse I was really feeling the Christmas spirit and wanted to go to Downtown Detroit's Campus Martius to see the largest tree in Michigan. Jesse and I both have a love for this time of year and one of our favorite memories was watching the annual holiday train. I would say the night of the train we both knew that we were in this for life. Jesse knew if he tried to make any plans I would catch on to his ideas quick. So I planned the whole thing. I made arrangements to meet up with my sister and her husband. We would drink hot coco, explore all the shops, play some games, go to dinner and after drive the neighborhoods to look at the lights. I had no idea I was setting up my own engagement. December 18th was one of the coldest and windiest days! After walking through all the shops, playing some games and drinking our coco I asked everyone if they wanted to leave early to go to dinner. Jesse clearly had other plans... now I know he was waiting for the lights to all turn on for the tree. Morgan had prompted us to take photos in front of the tree and Jesse got down on one knee. It was such a surprise and I had no idea it was coming! The ring was nothing I asked for but everything I could have wanted. And after he planned the most beautiful engagement dinner with some friends and family. This was everything I had ever dreamed of and executed in a way that kept it all a surprise. - CW
