After both swiping right on Tinder the week prior, Bruce and Kristina decided to schedule a date during their April break in Quincy. When that day came, Kristina went out to Harpoon Brewery with Haley for a brewery tour and some beer, not thinking much of having a date that night. Bruce, on the other hand, got donuts that day after attending grad courses in honor of 4/20 to, of course, "glaze it". Fast forward to the meeting time, Kristina, in classic fashion, could not find parking near Quincy courthouse. After frantically texting back and forth to help Kristina find parking, they decided to finally call one another, despite Kristina "hating the sound of her voice" (spoiler alert - Bruce was going to hear Kristina’s voice that day whether they were had a phone conversation or not because they were, you know, meeting in person). Once Kristina found parking (and Bruce) in the parking lot, they proceeded into the restaurant. After awkwardly standing around until someone eventually told them to "sit anywhere," Bruce and Kristina realized there was trivia happening that night. They decided to play under the name "Captain Tito" to represent the drinks they were both having that night and the rest is history (Actually, the final question of trivia was history related. "Which president is wearing a jacket on Mt. Rushmore?" Bruce guessed Jefferson. Wrong, idiot, it's Washington). Now, they celebrate 4/20 every year with donuts to "glaze it" in the date-iversary's honor.
Not long after closing on their home in Bridgewater, Bruce knew the time to propose would soon come. He started looking and purchased a ring in early April. One may be thinking, "wow - Bruce did it all himself? How could he possibly know what the hell he was doing?" Lucky for him, Kristina had sent him multiple photos of examples of rings in a less-than-sober state months prior. So Bruce buys a ring, and sits on it for a few months. During this time, poor Bruce had to endure relentless taunting from loved ones about buying a ring and popping the question, unbeknownst to everyone else, Bruce already had the ring, and was simply waiting for the right moment. When he thought the time was right, he asked Chelsea to make a doormat that said "The Gardner's" on it. Bruce tricked Kristina into getting ready to just "go out to dinner" on a Friday afternoon. He laid the doormat down in their living room, waited for Kristina to come down from getting ready, and popped the question in the middle of the house that they built together.
