Sharp Top Mountain Hike and Peaks of Otter Lodge
One of the most popular hikes in the area! This 1.5mi trail ascends 1300ft and provides amazing 360 degree views at it's rocky peak. Enjoy a scenic view of the mountain and Abbott Lake over some refreshments at the Peaks of Otter Lodge located at the base of the mountain!
Crabtree Falls
This 3 mi loop trail located within the George Washington National Forest provides beautiful views of the 60ft Crabtree waterfall!
Black Water Creek
This paved walking and biking trail is located in the heart of Lynchburg. Growing up, Rebecca went on many family bike rides on this beautiful trail! Grab a coffee at Nomad. Coffee Co. at the trail entrance and ride or walk the trail all the way into downtown!
Percival's Island River Walk Trail
Located right in downtown Lynchburg, this paved walking and biking path is an extension of the Black Water Creek Trail. This path passes over the James River and extends onto Percival's Island.
Poplar Forest
Visit Thomas Jefferson's plantation and retreat home located in Forest, VA just 20 minutes from Lynchburg. Enjoy a tour of this National Historic Landmark and hear stories on it's history, Jefferson's family, and the freed and enslaved craftsmen who built this architectural masterpiece.
National D-Day Memorial
The National D-Day Memorial is located in Bedford, VA just 30 minutes from Lynchburg. Bedford, VA is believed to have suffered the greatest per-capita losses of any American community on D-Day (June 6, 1944).
Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre
Snowflex is a year-round skiing and tubing mountain located right in Lynchburg, VA. We recommend visiting for the thrills or to just see some of the best mountain and sunset views in the city from the beautiful ski lodge!
