Things To Do

Old Salem Museums & Gardens

900 Old Salem Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

Take a trip back in time and see where the Moravians settled in 1766. Then later, talk to Dallas and his family about their ancestry and many connections to Old Salem.

Reynolda Village Shops & Restaurants

2201 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106

Shop, eat, walk through the gardens or on the trails, and even take a tour of the Reynolda House. It was named one of Southern Living's "Top 25 Best Places to Go in The South in 2025."

Salem Lake Trail

815 Salem Lake Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107

We walked the full 7 miles on Fourth of July 2024, but it's great for shorter walks and runs too!

Biscuitville

3388 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106

Dallas singlehandedly keeps them in business. He recommends the ultimate bacon biscuit. Maggie has been getting the sausage and egg biscuit. You really can't go wrong...enjoy!

Young Cardinal Cafe and Co.

424 4th Street Northwest, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

Great spot for brunch, but make sure you get there early! Or put your name on the list and walk around downtown for a bit. It was just named the best brunch spot in North Carolina by Yelp.

Alma

492 Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

our go-to place for Mexican downtown!

East of Texas

907 South Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

bbq (not eastern NC sorry), margaritas, outdoor seating - it's a fun spot!

The Old Fourth Street Filling Station

871 West 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

where Maggie and Dallas's parents met for the first time, so we guess it went well!

West End Cafe

926 West 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

solid American food

Incendiary Brewing Company

486 North Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

downtown brewery with indoor and outdoor seating

Foothills Brewpub

638 West 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

just a few blocks from the reception venue and open until midnight

Dogwood Hops And Crops & The Trophy Room

517 North Liberty Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

Dogwood Hops & Crops is a beer and wine bar, and The Trophy Room is a bourbon bar. According to Dallas they make the best old fashioned in the city. The bars are connected, so you can take your drink to the other bar, so everyone can get what they want! It's less than a mile from the reception venue and open until 1am.

For all the days along the way
