Jon and Ahna are high school sweethearts who began dating back in Nov. of 2018. Although they met in high school, they didn't actually go to school together. Rather, Jon was a Senior at Esko, and Ahna was a Sophomore at Cloquet when they first started dating. It was Cloquet's Homecoming football game that brought the couple together through some unlikely circumstances. Jon should not have been at the Homecoming dance that night. Drake Nordin, Jon's high school best friend (now groomsmen), brought Jon to the dance even though it was supposed to be strictly for Cloquet students. Ahna on the other hand, was not going to attend the dance at all. It was one of her best friends at the time who had convinced her to go that Friday night. Little did they both know that both of their best friends already knew both Jon and Ahna, and that they would play a crucial part in their introduction and what would be the beginning of their love story. Jon and Ahna were introduced during the dance by Ahna's friend. It was because of her, that Ahna began talking to Jon. Though there was another unpredicted turn of the night that should have been another reason that their story stopped there. As Jon was asking Ahna for her number, someone pulled the fire alarm in the school, and the grounds had to be evacuated. Ahna never had a chance to give him her number before they got separated in the crowd. With nothing more than each others first names and a high school dance, the strangers never should have fallen in love. With God's work, and the help of Ahna's very persistent friend, Jon got Ahna's number the next day, and after nearly 7 years together, they are finally getting married!
Jon proposed to Ahna on January 8th, 2024 on the beach of Sanibel Island in Florida. They took a three week roadtrip to FL and brought their two miniature dachshunds with them for what would become the trip of a lifetime. After 1,800 miles of driving, and two weeks into their trip, Jon took Ahna to the beach for some "family photos." Little did she know that he had something very special planned for her. He asked her on the beach with roses in the sand and a "Marry Me" arch. Though she would have said yes to him anywhere, he went above and beyond to make this moment special. After the proposal, Jons family joined them at the beach for what was supposed to be some casual family photos. This is a memory that will last a lifetime as they were surrounded by family and some of the people that love them the most.
