Gretchen and Jacob met in the Spring of 2014 at the University of Tennessee. Gretchen was an undergrad music major and Jacob was a graduate assistant with the Tuba Studio. Due to a class conflict, Jacob was tasked with the nearly impossible – teaching Gretchen how to play the tuba. She got a B-, he didn’t get paid for the lessons, and they carried on with their lives. Fast forward to late 2019, Gretchen and Jacob happened to see each other at a local brewery and reconnected (there may or may not have been dating apps involved as well). They had their first date on February 6th, 2020, and a month later the world shut down. After quarantining for months together, they took the next logical step and adopted their cat Piper in October of 2020. After 2 ½ years of supporting local breweries, dinners at Señor Taco, weekend trips, and evening walks around the neighborhood, Jacob finally popped the question with Piper’s assistance in August of 2022. Gretchen and Jacob are so excited to share this next stage of their life with all their close family and friends at the Foundry. December 2023 can’t get here soon enough!
