How We Met

First Comes School, Then Comes Marriage

This is a rather funny story to be honest. Our first encounter with each other was at our White Coat Ceremony for pharmacy school where we each had a parent (our dads) gown us with our white coats. The line up for the ceremony was random and it just so happened that we were right next to each other. We met quite briefly and had very few words exchanged however; both of our dads talked quite a bit about all of the similarities in our families (homeschooled, family of 9, ect). After the ceremony, classes began and we couldn't have been in more different friend groups. Alex sat to the far left of the classroom and Beth to the far right. We never went to the same parties. We really had nothing to do with each other until summer where we had started to mingle within friend groups. Our friends became experts at egging us on but we were pretty certain that we were never going to date. So definitely no sparks yet.. Beth learned real quick that Alex was a man of very few words... Or so I thought until we had broken the barrier and had the longest conversations about the uncanny similarities we had in our families and the parallel interests/hobbies we shared. Truth be told that once we discovered common ground about our gym habits; we became pretty inseparable. It wasn't until Valentine's Day when we realized that we had harmonized by accident. That's pretty much when he thought, "Okay. This could be something." So later in February we had our first actual date.

The Proposal

12.7.2019

The corny phrases "took my breath away" and "swept me off my feet" perfectly describe the night Alexander proposed to me. To say it was perfect is an understatement. He planned a full days worth of adventures in New York City beginning with 2 front row seats to see the Broadway show "Wicked". We really enjoyed ourselves and I thought that was the highlight of the trip... Later after the show, Alexander and I walked through Towns Square to see the largest Christmas tree I've ever seen. I remember the streets being so crowded that I actually asked a lady if there was a parade going on. We wiggled our way up close to the tree to sneak a few photos before heading off for dinner. After several failed attempts of waving down a taxi, we decided to jump in the bicycle carriage and head to this "really fancy 5-star restaurant" that was a surprise. Alex gave the bicyclist the coordinates and we began our carriage adventure throughout the streets of NY. Upon arrival, I was getting a little concerned about the location of this supposed restaurant seeing how there were no signs and the bicyclist kept insisting that there was not a restaurant here. But Alex played it cool and we were greeted at a door entrance by a young lady who then took us up the elevator. At this point, I was actually getting really concerned to the point where I turned to the lady and asked, "Is there actually a restaurant up here". I'm not sure how much Alex paid her to say this but she convinced me there was. Now at the top of building, Alex took my hand and walked me out to the most breathtaking view and got down on one knee to propose. I said YES and he literally swept me off my feet.
