Our story

08.18.2022

Maggie and Ben’s story begins at Waterway. They met for the first time back in 2021 washing cars together! For a long time they were just coworkers and friends. The more they worked together and got to know each other, they started to hangout together more at work and also outside of work in groups of friends. However, maggie would admit she very quickly found herself hoping she’d get to work and see Ben’s car there in the parking lot, or being distracted because she was hoping he’d come in for the day… and admittedly also doing everything she could to make sure they got paired up for the day cleaning cars. One day after work, they casually went to Hen House and had sushi together - “the first date” just them by themselves with no other friends. From there, they started to hangout more. Ben took Maggie to the gym for the first time, and she took him on hikes and to the dog park, and it wasn’t long before they saw each other almost every day. It was about May of that year that Ben sent a “I’ve been thinking about you a lot more recently” text… and then it was August 18th when Ben officially asked Maggie to be his girlfriend on a camping trip in Colorado. After many more gym dates and hikes, the rest is history:) We are so excited to see what God has planned for our future, and we are so blessed to have so many people we want to share this day with!

The proposal

12.27.25

The day after Christmas we left for a camping trip to Devil’s Den, Arkansas. Devil’s Den is what we both consider “our place”, and it especially is now :) We have been there previously four times - it’s the perfect weekend getaway. We had previously planned this trip together months in advance, looking forward to a little getaway after the holidays. The second morning of the trip, we woke up and decided to go on a hike. It was at the top of the mountain on this trail that Ben got down on one knee. It truly was the most perfect moment: the sun was shining, clear skies, and it was 80 degrees out in December! Every person in our lives had been telling us we were crazy for planning on going camping in December; hearing a lot of comments about how miserably cold we were going to be, I hope you packed a lot of heaters, that sort of thing. And, the next two days of our trip it was promptly cloudy, cold rainy weather. God truly made that morning so perfect for us. It felt like it was set aside and so meant to be. It was just us and Maggie’s dog, Luna, surrounded by nature doing one of our favorite things together. Ben could not have done a better job and it was everything Maggie had ever dreamed of.
