Our story technically began in the summer of 2023, where we met as part of a 10 week course through our church on being bold in sharing our faith with others. The timing wasn't quite right yet, but being able to observe each other from a far ended up being one of the greatest blessings when we would eventually start dating over a year later. While existing as nothing but friends, we both grew to have an admiration for the other's character and heart after the Lord. Fast forward to the end of the summer of 2024, and we were both ready to start dating again. Dallas, eager to ask Jenna out and unable to wait for a better time, initiated a conversation in the most romantic of scenarios. On the red line. On the way home from a White Sox game. At 11pm. Who could say no to that? As we started dating, it became clear to each of us almost immediately that we had found the one. Every date was joyful, every conversation was effortless, and every time we separately turned to the Lord on if to proceed, he kept giving a resounding feeling of peace. We've spent countless days and nights together, cooking meals, exploring amazing Chicago restaurants, attending friends weddings, visiting each other’s hometowns, and enjoying peaceful walks by the lake, around Oz Park, and down Burling Street. The most unique date we've had was embarking on a 15 mile walk across the city, visiting 6 separate pizza shops along the way, talking and praying as we went. When you find someone willing to do that with you, how can you let it pass by? As we reflect on our time together, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love we’ve experienced, not only for each other but the love Jesus has for us. Romans 8:28-30 reminds us of God's incredible purpose for our lives: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son...” At the time, we didn’t fully understand it, but the Lord was teaching us that "good" in His eyes doesn't always match the way we might see it. Instead of comfort or ease, true "good" is being transformed into the likeness of Jesus — the One who is loving, compassionate, humble, sacrificial, forgiving, truthful, wise, patient, and gentle. As we look forward to the beginning of soon-to-be husband and wife, we are most excited about the journey ahead: the continual transformation of our hearts and minds into the image of Christ. This is the “good” we desire in our lives, no matter the challenges we face, whether in the past, present, or future. Together, we long for the Lord to shape us to reflect more of His Son every day, and in doing so, we grow deeper in love with each other and with Him. This is the ultimate purpose of our love — to honor and reflect His love in all we do. Our relationship has been such a blessing to each of us, and we are so excited to share pieces of that with you in July as we take the next step into marriage!
