Martin has just moved to Wichita, Kansas. On April 30th, he walks up the steps to a small apartment in the heart of the city. He’s eager to make friends, and it’s his first time joining a Bible Study group. After an anxious knock on the door, he’s greeted by the host. He steps into the home, takes off his shoes, and is delighted to see one of his few Wichita friends, Andrew, already playing Uno. He goes in for a hug and as unexpected and awesome as this chance encounter was, Martin would never have guessed that he had just made eye contact with the future love of his sitting near the card table. They each noticed one another right off the bat *sparks be flying.* Question marks of (??!!??) buzzed in Ashley’s head of where Martin had come from, and these question marks buzzed louder as Martin got closer and boldly chose a seat next to her for Uno. After a while, it was time for Jeopardy - and teams would need to be formed. In another happy coincidence, Martin and Ashley got paired up as teammates by random chance. Little did they know that chance teammate with a stranger would turn into a teammate for life. The two exchanged pleasantries and get-to-know-you questions (Ashley mostly wondering how the cutest guy everrrr had been attending her church and she didn't know him), and she knew she had to have a connection to this man, so they exchanged instagram handles. Both left with a desire to know each other more. The following week Ashley was having a 1920's themed murder mystery birthday party and needed one male character role filled and since she had a serious curiosity about Martin, she messaged him an invitation and coded it with the idea that it would be a great way to make new friends since he had freshly moved to Wichita. He reluctantly accepted, met all his new "friends" in character, was the only one to bring Ashley a gift, and afterward the curiosity was magnetic. Martin asked Ashley to dinner the next morning, and their first date was at Yaya’s on May 9th. He arrived early, had the table set, and greeted Ashley by opening the door and saying, "You look beautiful." There was a rainbow over the restaurant as she walked in.
