How We Met and it wasn't Online

Love at First Steak

In 2020, Jeremy was stationed in Beaumont, TX for the Coast Guard. My mom and I decided to take a little road trip to Beaumont to see Damon Troy (a Cajun singer we both like) in concert. We decided to grab dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse beforehand. If you know me OR my mom, you know we are always late to everything. Always. The concert started in one hour and we still needed to eat dinner. As the wait to get a table was over an hour long, and the bar is open seating, I went to see if there were any open seats in the bar area. There were only 2 seats unoccupied at the bar and one gentleman sitting between both open seats. As I was going around the bar, looking at my options, I heard the gentleman say, "This seat is open." I told him I needed 2 seats, so the man said, "I will scoot down, so you can have 2 seats together." That man was Jeremy. We talked the whole time while we were eating dinner, I bought him a drink for scooting down for us, and even invited him to the concert where my mom and I were going. Not thinking he would come since we had just met, I see him waiting at the front door of the concert for us. He actually came! After having dinner, drinks, dancing the night away together, and giving him (and my mom) COVID, I thought this could really be something.

The Proposal

9.21.2021

Jeremy had the ring burning a hole in his pocket for a whole week waiting for the right opportunity to ask me. One evening I came home from work and there were candles lit, had my favorite flowers, and he had cooked one of my favorite dishes. Jeremy always does sweet things like that and is an excellent cook, so I didn't think anything of it and thought it was just another Tuesday night with my love. Low and behold, as soon as we were done with dinner, he sat down in front of me on the floor (I was sitting on the couch), and he started saying really sweet things. One thing I will never forget that he said was, "I want nothing more than for you to be my wife." After he said that, everything else seemed like a blur and I just focused on that phrase. Burying my hands in my face crying, I asked him if he was serious. He pulled out my dream ring and said yes.
