Matt and Kaitie first met at Spectrum Physical Therapy but this is not your typical love at first sight story. Matt's first interaction with Kaitie was unique. Matt was working as an aide and Kaitie was a patient. Kaitie just went through hip surgery and was just told she would have another major surgery but this time on her knee. Matt brought her an ice pack and asked how she was feeling. She replied in a sad tone I-am fine, understandable for someone in her position. During Kaitie's rehab Matt would play Wii bowling and the "coin game" with her. It wasn't until Kaitie started working at Spectrum in 2013 that they started to talk more. One day Kaitie sent Matt a text message saying "Kim is making me laugh" (Kim was one of our co-workers who was talking to Kaitie about Matt and Kaitie blushed so she made her text him) and that's all it took for the two to start talking daily. One day Matt sent a text message to Kaitie saying "wait you like like me?" and then asked her to go on a date with him. Every year they try to recreate their first date by going ice skating in Central Park, getting dinner, seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree and getting Magnolia's for dessert!
Matt said he knew Kaitie was "the one" when they hiked Mount Washington (the tallest peak in the Northeast) with some of their friends in 2014. She didn't complain once during the entire hike. Fast forward six years to December 2019, Matt and Kaitie took an impromptu trip to Mont-Tremblant for a week! They spent their first full day walking around the town, doing some laps on the ski trails, and having a nice dinner! During the day Kaitie felt like Matt was acting weird because he kept snacking on jelly beans even though they were going to dinner. He was also taking his time getting ready (little did she know he was stalling and trying to wait until the snow would start falling). They went out and visited some stores but Matt didn't want Kaitie buying anything (so she wouldn't be holding bags). At dinner, Kaitie noticed Matt wasn't eating much and asked if he was ok and he said "yea just not that hungry". So they got their food wrapped up to go and started to head back up the hill to the hotel. Matt wanted to stop to take a picture to capture a moment. He asked Kaitie "Do you like doing this adventure stuff with me?" and Kaitie jokingly said "If I didn't I wouldn't be freezing my butt off here." Matt's reply was "Do you want to do it with me forever?" As Kaitie put it "It was like a scene out of a movie. It was night time, the snow was falling, and it was in front of a Christmas tree when the man of my dreams got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!"
