Things To Do

Pearl Street - Boulder, CO

A street lined with restaurants, shops and people watching, Pearl Street is the heart and soul of Boulder — and has been for more than four decades! Here, in the center of historic downtown, locals and visitors stroll the brick-paved pedestrian walkway, linger on sun-dappled benches and restaurant patios, shop to their hearts' content, and stop to watch only-in-Boulder street performers. Four blocks of Pearl are closed to traffic, but the fun continues to stretch for blocks in either direction.

Chautauqua Park - Boulder, CO

If you’re planning a visit to Boulder, there's a good chance people will say, “Oh, you have to go to Chautauqua!” And you might be thinking, “Sha-what?” In Boulder, the term Chautauqua (pronounced shuh-TAW-kwuh) is used to describe a vast area right at the foot of Boulder’s Flatirons mountains. It encompasses the sprawling lawn of Chautauqua Park, the Colorado Chautauqua historic district and the Chautauqua Trailhead, from which 40 miles of hiking trails can be accessed.

The Flatirons - Boulder, CO

The Flatirons are the striking, slanted, reddish-brown sandstone formations that make up a portion of Boulder’s foothills on the west side of town. They are Boulder’s most iconic landmark, and you’ll see their likeness in business logos and artwork throughout town. Whether frosted with snow, cloaked in fog, or glowing warm and red under sunny skies, the Flatirons offer the quintessential Boulder view. Once you snap a few shots of them from afar, head toward the foothills to explore them up close.

Five Easy Hikes

It's okay if you still put the word "hiking" in air quotes when you talk about heading outdoors. Any attempts at fresh-air adventures are good for the whole family — and trails are super accessible in Boulder. These five easy Boulder hikes are great for kids and grown-ups alike, with interesting features that will capture their attention and keep you all looking forward to what's around the next bend.

Eight Hikes with Great Views

There’s nothing like a breathtaking view to reward all the sweat and hard work you put in on a hiking trail. Most every trail in Boulder has a refreshing vista or two, but the following offer particularly outstanding panoramas, making them some of the best hikes near Denver.

Boulder Falls

A short, 100-yard hike will lead you to this gem-like waterfall that rushes down the rock wall at a height of about 70 feet. While there is no swimming in Boulder Falls, and no climbing on the surrounding rocks, you'll be able to feel the cool mist rising off the soothing falls, get lost in the sound of the rushing water, take in the scent of the surrounding pine trees and maybe even spot some wildlife.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Just 40 miles north of Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park covers more than 400 square miles of Colorado wilderness and is home to soaring mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife. Whether you're here to fish the pristine lakes and streams, rock climb the cliffs and peaks or simply hike some of the more than 300 miles of trails, take advantage of your time in this beloved national park with these guided tours and experiences. With a drive time of about an hour, an excursion to Rocky Mountain National Park is totally doable from Boulder.

Avery Brewing - Boulder, CO

Since 1993, Avery Brewing Company has been committed to producing eccentric ales and lagers that defy styles or categories. Their products are thoroughly American at heart: blending Old World tradition and expertise with ingenuity, creativity and boldness. If you think your taste buds can keep up, please drop by to experience the full menu and 30 some taps of world-class and exclusive craft beers. Growlers and to-go beer available.

Upslope Brewing Company - Boulder, CO

Meteorologically speaking, it’s a front range-covering, water-table-filling, snow-dumping weather pattern that anyone with bindings and a roof rack would die for. Beerologically speaking, it’s carbonated gold. In 2008, Matt Cutter, Henry Wood and Dany Page, kissed their homes in Cleveland, Atlanta and Argentina goodbye to bring their beer-brewing love affair to Boulder, Colorado. With that, Upslope Brewing Company was born. And after ten years of supplying Colorado with trailhead tallboys, and pow-day libations made from the freshest snowmelt, the finest hops and the purest passion for living life outdoors, one thing has become undeniable. These guys didn’t just float another microbrew into the sea of Colorado microbrews. They created a lineup of quality craft beer that tastes as good poured from a tap as they do pulled out of a fishing vest. In other words, for those who call the Continental Divide home, the perfect storm.
