Currency: Italy's currency is the euro. You can exchange money before you go or use an ATM when you arrive. We recommend ensuring you have a credit card with no foreign transaction fee to use while you are there. Packing: Pack light - it will be warm during our stay! Other items to consider: universal outlet (found on Amazon), water bottle, and good walking shoes. Public Transportation: Highly recommend the "City Mapper" app to help navigate public transportation system. Tipping: Tips are not expected in Italy; however, they are appreciated when the service is good. It is recommended to tip 5-10% in that case. Coperto: An amount charged for every person who eats in a restaurant. Charge covers linens, plates, bread, etc. It is usually a few euros only. Crowded Areas: Stay vigilant in crowded areas, particularly at train stations, popular tourist attractions, and during rush hour. Be aware of your belongings and keep them close to you.
