Wedding Party

Meet the People Who Have to Pretend We're Not Stressing Them Out

Chris Arnoult

Father of the Groom

Chris isn’t just Blake’s dad—he’s also his lifelong coach, grill consultant, and Diet Coke supplier. He’s been Blake’s best friend since birth, his mentor growing up, and his personal long snapping coach (yes, that’s a thing). He’s laid-back to a fault, has extremely picky food preferences (that somehow include gas station snacks), and considers seasoning a personal art form. He may have a rough exterior, but he’s the one you call when you need advice, perspective, or just someone to say “right” 15 times while you talk it out. He’s steady, loyal, and always there—even if he acts like he’s just supervising the grill. He’s a man of few words, but those words tend to stick. You may not get a dramatic pep talk, but you’ll walk away knowing exactly where he stands—probably with a plate of smoked meat in one hand and a Diet Coke in the other. And though he may pretend not to care about the sentimental stuff, make no mistake—he’s got a front-row seat and a big role, whether he likes it or not

Olivia Arnoult

Mother of the Groom

Olivia is the definition of a caring mom, but she’s also the reigning queen of worrying. If there’s an issue, big or small, you can bet she’s got a thousand questions and a few backup plans. Blake may roll his eyes when she asks, “How'd it go?” for the hundredth time, but truth be told, he wouldn’t want it any other way. Her constant care and concern are just part of what makes her the incredible mom she is. As a nurse, Olivia’s approach to “boo boos” was simple: Tylenol, a little tough love, and maybe a very dramatic, “You’ll be fine.” But don’t let that fool you—her heart is huge. Whether she’s tailgating with the other football moms or showing up to every single game or track meet in full team colors, Olivia’s always there, cheering Blake on from the sidelines (and probably offering unsolicited advice along the way). She’s not just a mom; she’s a friend, a confidante, and the one who always knows how to make you feel better, even if it’s with her signature smile or a warm, "Everything will be okay."

Chris Howe

Father of the Bride

Chris is one of four Christophers in the wedding party, so if you hear “Chris” being called, good luck figuring out who’s who. But we’ll give you a hint—he’s the one delivering the dad jokes. He’s got an endless supply of corny punchlines, and he’s always ready to share them, even if you didn't ask for them. A stubborn marshmallow, Chris has a tough exterior, but a heart of gold. Ashlyn has been his little girl since day one, so don’t be surprised if you see a few tears on the big day (though he’ll try to hide his own, of course). He’s also the family’s go-to “Mr. Fix It.” If something breaks, Chris is the guy who’ll “fix” it—and by fix it, we mean watch 10 YouTube videos until he figures it out (but he’ll never admit he needed help). And while he might seem like he’s keeping it cool, deep down he’s just waiting to drop some “Chris-approved” sports “knowledge” (which is mostly just his opinion, but he’ll tell you anyway).

Maria Howe

Mother of the Bride

Maria wears more hats than a department store rack: teacher, volunteer EMT, cake baker, personal photographer, shopping buddy, Ashlyn’s personal bank, and—of course—Cookie to the grandkids. And somehow, she still manages to squeeze in being the mother of the bride (a role she is definitely not taking lightly). She’s got a heart of gold, and her babies always come first—whether they walk on two legs or four. To know her is to love her… and also to be slightly smothered by well-meaning worry. If you’ve ever been alone for more than 30 seconds, she’s probably texted you “just checking in” because she saw something terrifying on Facebook. Confrontation? Not her style. She's more of a “stick your head in the sand and hope it works itself out” kind of gal—though she’ll deny that with every fiber of her being. Still, she’s always a listening ear, a calming presence, and the first to show up with snacks, a solution, or a strong opinion (delivered gently, of course).

Brittany Kelly

Matron of Honor

Undeniably Ashlyn’s twin (at least in looks, voice, and just about everything else), Brittany might as well be Ashlyn’s second mom. She’s the one sending gas money when you’re broke, calling to check in after every exam, and texting you multiple times a day just to make sure you’re still alive (because you haven’t texted her in over two hours). And heaven help you if you even think about going out at night without a safety plan—she’s got a list of “what to do” and “what not to do” ready to go. Though she has two little ones of her own—Kayden and baby Makenna—Brittany has more than enough room in her heart to “mom” her sister too. She’s all about spoiling her favorite people with goodies, spending entire days shopping, or hosting dinners with Blake and Ashlyn. Oh, and let’s not forget her love for hours-long phone calls—right up until Kayden clicks the red button and ends the conversation. She’s also, without question, the blondest person you’ll ever meet—and we mean that lovingly. You truly never know what idiotic thing is going to come out of her mouth next, but whatever it is, it’ll have you laughing until your stomach hurts.

Shealy Graham

Maid of Honor

Shealy and Ashlyn’s friendship started when Ashlyn was in high school and Shealy was just a 6th grader—though at the time, it was less bonding and more Ashlyn showing up once a week to teach her choreography for cheer tryouts. What began in awkward silence turned into nightly car rides filled with loud music, deep talks, and just the right amount of gossip. From watching each other graduate to moving into college and growing up side by side, they’ve shared every season—and now Shealy’s standing right beside Ashlyn on one of the biggest days of her life. Shealy is a child at heart but sharp when it counts—emphasis on when it counts. She still says things that will have you questioning how she ever made it out of kindergarten (kidding… but not really). She’s the friend you call when you need someone to hype you up in the dressing room, dissect a breakup over junk food, or talk through the latest drama like it’s breaking news. She’s funny, dependable, and full of love—and if you ever need a reminder not to take life too seriously, Shealy’s got you covered.

Kirsten Arnoult

Bridesmaid

At this point, we’re pretty sure Kirsten has her own punch card for weddings—this is at least number 14 this year alone. She’s a girl’s girl through and through and takes bridesmaid duty more seriously than most people take their actual jobs. And honestly? It shows. Whether she’s helping pick out shoes, fixing a dress emergency, or giving you her unfiltered (and usually correct) opinion, she’s always ready to lend a hand. She’s also your go-to wine snob—sorry, connoisseur—and somehow always knows exactly what bottle to grab for a girls’ night in. But don’t let the polished exterior fool you... you truly never know what’s going to go right over her head and what’s going to land. It keeps us on our toes and keeps things interesting—very interesting. She’s always up for a good time, and you can count on her for anything from last-minute plans to entertaining us all with her unique perspective on, well, everything.

Kaitlyn Beck

Bridesmaid

Kaitlyn is the ultimate cat mom—we’re talking five cats (and counting), all spoiled to perfection. If there's a stray around, you can bet Kaitlyn's the first one to scoop it up, throw it a party, and call it family... and honestly, we just embrace it at this point. When it comes to life’s crazy moments, Kaitlyn is your go-to. She’s always ready to listen—whether you’re venting about drama or just need someone to laugh with. She’s also known for her questionable life advice, which somehow always makes sense in the moment, and a level of enthusiasm that could hype you up for anything, even if it’s just running errands. Growing up just two years apart, Ashlyn and Kaitlyn spent more time at each other’s houses than anyone cares to count—whether they were talking life, plotting plans, or making bad decisions. Kaitlyn’s been there for it all, and there’s no one better to have by your side for the next chapter.

Lylah Brooks

Bridesmaid

Lylah and Ashlyn’s friendship started back in middle school when they bonded over cheerleading and the inevitable drama that comes with it. From awkward prom double dates to celebrating a Clemson win by rushing the field together, they’ve shared countless memories, and now, she’s standing by Ashlyn’s side on her wedding day. Lylah is one of the smartest people you’ll ever meet, and sometimes, it takes a minute to catch up with her—so don’t be surprised if you ask her to simplify things a bit. But beyond the smarts, Lylah’s the kind of friend you don’t need to see every day to feel close to. Whether it’s been six months or six years, it’s like no time has passed when you reconnect. She’s thoughtful, patient, and so nice it’s almost suspicious. She’s the friend you call when you need honest advice, a quick laugh, or just someone who understands without asking a million questions.

Tiffany Smith

Bridesmaid

Tiffany might be one of the newest additions to Ashlyn’s inner circle, but that certainly doesn’t mean she’s any less important. When she started dating Ashlyn’s cousin Matthew in high school, the two instantly clicked, and it wasn’t long before she was practically family. Whether it’s gossiping about family drama, going on a book shopping spree, or tagging along to concerts, Tiffany is always down to join the fun. She might be the quiet type, but trust us—those are the ones you really need to watch. Tiffany may not always say much, but she’s always cheering Ashlyn on from the sidelines and supporting her in everything she does. If you need a friend who’s quietly got your back, she’s the one to call. Don’t let her calm demeanor fool you—when she’s in your corner, you know you’ve got a ride-or-die on your hands.

Lydia Ruggles

Bridesmaid

Lydia is dating the bride’s brother, but honestly, Ashlyn would’ve claimed her either way. Within five minutes of meeting, they bonded over books, sarcasm, coffee addictions, and spending money they don’t have. She’s smart—like, marine biology smart—and can tell you way more about science than you asked for (and probably more than you wanted to know). Just don’t bring up SeaWorld unless you have time for a full TED Talk. She’s got a dry sense of humor, a soft heart, and a way of making people feel instantly comfortable… even while hitting them with a little well-timed sass. Whether it's matching your energy during a shopping spree or offering a thoughtful word when you least expect it, Lydia’s the kind of friend who makes you feel like you've known her forever. Not technically family, but she fits in a little too well to ever get rid of now.

Kayden Kelly

Ring Bearer

Watch out, ladies—Kayden Kelly is about to steal the show. Whether it’s his adorable smile, his cowboy boots, or the way he belts out “Sweet Caroline” at full volume on repeat, this little guy is guaranteed to win your heart. Ashlyn and Blake’s nephew, affectionately known as “Munchkin,” Kayden’s a true charmer, and he knows it. He’s always up to make you laugh, cheer on "Uncle Blake" during his games, or run the bases on any makeshift baseball field. Let’s just pray he doesn’t run away with the rings—though, knowing Kayden, that wouldn’t surprise anyone!

Makenna Kelly

Flower Girl

Makenna may only be a few months old, but don’t let her size fool you—this doll baby already has Blake and Ashlyn (and pretty much everyone else) wrapped tightly around her tiny little finger. With her big, bright eyes and sweet smile, she’s the definition of irresistible, and we’re all just living in her world now. By the time the big day rolls around, Makenna will be almost a year old and fully ready to take on the role of flower girl—or more accurately, flower child. Whether she’s crawling, walking, or just flashing that adorable grin from her stroller, one thing’s for sure: she’s going to steal the show. So go ahead and brace yourselves for the cuteness, because Makenna’s not just bringing the flowers—she’s bringing the charm, the chaos, and the crowd-favorite energy, all in one tiny package.

Macon Arnoult

Best Man

Macon doesn’t say much, but when he does, it’s usually to talk smack, fire off a sarcastic comment, or offer up a brutally honest opinion—especially after a game. He’s the kind of brother who calls you after every kickoff, kicks your butt in Fantasy Football, and somehow manages to stay chill while quietly judging your bad play calls. He’s steady, sharp, and always lurking in the group chat… until he disappears for three weeks for no reason. Off the field, you’ll catch him playing video games (until Blake starts winning and he rage-quits), heading to Gamecock games (for what reason, we’re still not sure), and hanging out with the boys. He may pretend to suck at golf, but don’t let that fool you—he’s sneaky good. After all, you don’t work the Masters and PGA Tour just for the merch. Macon doesn’t do anything halfway, and even if he acts like he doesn’t care, you’ll find out quick he’s more loyal than he lets on. As for his best man speech… let’s just say, we’re all hoping for heartfelt—but fully prepared for inappropriate.

Luke Taylor

Groomsman

One half of the Taylor brother duo in the wedding, Luke is the quieter of the two—but don’t mistake that for boring. He met Blake during a college football visit senior year of high school, and they hit it off immediately, sealing their friendship (and roommate contract) right then and there. Despite being a proud product of a Newberry College education, Luke somehow walked away with a master’s degree—though most of his daily dialogue still revolves around football, food, and the occasional wildly intelligent observation that makes everyone pause and go, “Wait… what?” He’s always there when it counts, usually with a calm presence and a “Would you rather…” question that makes you irrationally uncomfortable. If you hear someone shout “Dude!” from across the room, odds are it’s Luke, ready to ask a question that spirals into a 45-minute conversation. He's that guy who's quietly carrying everyone around him—and making them laugh while doing it.

Danny Barker

Groomsman

If you spot the guy with the receding hairline cleverly hidden under a Steelers or Penguins hat, that’s Danny Barker. He met Blake on the Newberry football team, joined the infamous house of “the boys,” and has been part of the bromantic brotherhood ever since. Don’t let the quiet demeanor fool you—Double Master Danny (yep, two degrees) might not say much, but when he does, it’s either wildly insightful or absolutely unhinged. A meathead with a heart of gold, he’s always on some kind of side quest: running marathons for fun, moving heavy things for no reason, or flying across the country for a last-minute Steelers game. He may not be the loudest in the room (or smile often), but Danny is as loyal as they come—and if you’re lucky, you might even catch him laughing at one of his own jokes. Or not. Either way, he’ll be there when you need him—hat on, quiet, and probably judging your squat form.

Colby Taylor

Groomsman

When you look up the word “jock” in the dictionary, you’ll find Colby Taylor’s picture—probably mid-flex. After not one, but two ACL tears (because one just wasn’t dramatic enough), Colby met Blake at Newberry College and the two started the ultra-exclusive Dumbbell Club—membership count: 3. And just like that, a bromance was born. But beneath the protein powder and downing pudding cups like it's a food group, is someone who's more than just a teammate—he’s basically family. He's the kind of guy who shows up without needing to be asked, who’s always down to roll with the boys, and who somehow went from "random college dude" to "basically a brother" overnight. If you see a tall, hulking figure walking toward you with the gait of a gorilla—don’t panic. That’s just Colby.

Tradd Castles

Groomsman

Tradd is everyone’s favorite redhead, which is a weird thing to be, but somehow he pulls it off. Known for having an alarm loud enough to shake the walls—but still managing to sleep through it—Tradd was Blake’s roommate junior year and the reason Blake now has military-grade OCD when it comes to cleanliness. (Ashlyn says thanks, btw). Tradd and Blake first met on their official football visit in high school, played together freshman year, and bonded over football, late-night conversations, and Tradd’s inability to function without at least 12 hours of sleep. While the rest of the boys were gaming, Tradd was nose-deep in MCAT books. Why? Because he wants to be a doctor, obviously—but also because someone had to carry the GPA average in the group. Selfless, helpful, and always two seconds away from telling a complete stranger his life story, Tradd’s the guy you want around… unless you’re trying to sleep in past sunrise.

Zack Kelly

Groomsman

Zack’s the definition of a guy’s guy. If you’ve never met him, just picture a 6’3” version of Blake—well, aside from the fact that they look nothing alike. He’s cool, calm, and collected (unless you’re watching him pitch, in which case, watch out for the words that fly out of his mouth). Zack is one of the most level-headed people you’ll meet, but don’t mistake his chill demeanor for a lack of passion—he’s got plenty of smack to talk, especially when it comes to football. A big baseball guy, Zack’s idea of a good time is sitting back, eating steak (and only steak—don’t even try offering him anything else), watching sports, and talking trash with the boys. He’s Ashlyn’s brother-in-law, but honestly, he might as well be Blake’s blood brother. He’s the guy who’s always got your back, and even if he’s quiet about it, you know he’s in your corner.

Carson Smith

Groomsman

Carson and Blake met during their official visit to Newberry—are we seeing a pattern here? When COVID hit during freshman year and the weight room was shut down, Carson, Blake, and Luke showed up at Blake’s parents' garage nearly every day to lift, sweat, and bulk up with whatever weights they could find. That’s commitment… or just plain boredom. What really solidified Carson and Blake’s friendship, though, was discovering they were on opposite sides of a high school playoff rivalry—Carson played for Abbeville, which knocked Blake out of the playoffs. Carson still brags about it, Blake’s still bitter about it, and neither of them will ever let it go. Some friendships are built on shared interests; theirs is built on one very unfortunate loss and years of sarcastic jabs. Carson’s the definition of easygoing—he’ll roll with anything, help with anything, and laugh at almost everything. Just don’t mistake his laid-back attitude for disinterest—he’s actually one of the most reliable, kindhearted guys you’ll ever meet.

Austin Howe

Groomsman

If you’ve ever met a bigger Clemson fan than Austin, he’d probably say they’re wrong—because he’s the biggest. He’ll debate you into the ground about football, food, or quite literally anything just for the sport of it. Moved to Tampa and suddenly became a Lightning fan? Sure. But only because it gives everyone a few days off from hearing about Cade Klubnik. When he’s not arguing, Austin is busy being an aspiring pickleball pro, and don’t be surprised if he tries to sell you on a new business venture—dude could sell ice to an Eskimo. He may act like a tough guy, but deep down, he’s a teddy bear (even if he won’t admit it). As the brother of the bride, he’ll argue with you the whole way there, but you can count on him to support you, show up, and probably even bring snacks. Bonus: he’s an elite-level dog sitter.
