We like to think that we're a prime example of the old saying, "Timing is Everything." David and I met online, via a dating app (thanks InnerCircle) during the summer of 2018. I was moving to Houston ("HOU") in August, while David was already living there. David asked to show me around to all of the popular food places in HOU, but seeing as I still had a while until I was actually living there, he had to wait a bit to take me on a date. For the next few months, we spoke frequently on the phone, learning more and more about each other---We learned how many times our paths could've & should've crossed, but it wasn't the right timing. Little did we know, we lived 20 min from each other in Colorado as kids, both went to Texas State at the same time, lived across the street from each other in college, and have numerous mutual friends from school--just to name a few scenarios. To think we never formally met, when we should have, is wild to us. But, we believe that God had us meet exactly when we were supposed to (David jokes that he's glad we didn't date in college cause I probably wouldn't have liked him as much haha). Timing truly is everything.---When I finally made it to HOU, David was a gentleman and allowed me time to get settled before asking to take me on that long awaited date. Alas, I mustered up enough courage to accept his invitation. David took me to Batanga in downtown Houston, where we ate Latin cuisine and even witnessed a robbery (David joked about how he hired actors for that stunt haha). Our evening was full of laughter, which at the time, I was just learning how comedic David naturally is--one of the things I love about him. Neither of us wanted the night to end, but as he walked me to my car (& opened my door--again, what a gentleman!), he asked me on our second date... Fast forward four years, and we now have two fur babies-Tyrion & Denver--and are fixing to become Mr. & Mrs. Acosta!
