How We Met

Like many other millennials, Bri and Jackson met through an online-dating app called "Hinge". Bri's dating profile included a photo of herself on a famous hike from her trip to Norway. Jackson passed the litmus test by answering the prompt of "Guess where this photo was taken?". Expressing his faux wit, Jackson correctly answered "Troll Tunga," and Bri was VERY impressed that someone finally knew the answer! Even later on after finding out that Jackson googled the answer, Bri was flattered by his effort and sleuthing abilities. After a week of communicating virtually, they decided to meet in person for a walk around Lake of the Isles. Little did they know that their meeting point outside Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church would later symbolize the foundation of their relationship as a couple: a shared belief and faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. The conversation flowed so well and naturally during their walk, that they ended up going out for dinner at a nearby restaurant, which has since become one of their favorite places to share a meal together. By the end of the first date, Jackson and Brianna already made plans to meet again. The rest is history!

How He Proposed!

I had a rock in a sock in my pocket.

Bicycling is one of Bri & Jackson's shared passions. They enjoy many summer days riding their tandem bike, cruising from brewery to brewery in NE Minneapolis, to bike packing with just a saddle bag of camping gear. Of course, their pup, Newman, happily joins them in his dog backpack. For the past several years, Bri has participated in an annual fundraising bike trip where she rides about 200 miles from the Twin Cities to Lansing, Iowa to raise money for Village Creek Bible Camp. In 2023, Jackson tagged along. Little did Bri know, but Jackson had more than just biking on his mind! At the very last stop of the trip, Jackson announced to the group (without Bri present, of course) that he planned to propose! In order to avoid detection, he wrapped the ring box in a sock and put it in his back jersey pocket. After crossing the finish line and riding past cheering camp staff members, Jackson proposed to Bri! She was in awe but eventually found the word..."YES!" Afterwards, they celebrated with the group of other bike riders and enjoyed a nice meal provided by the camp. They were even treated to a fine bottle of sparkling grape juice (hey, it's a church camp after all).
