They met at a friend's wedding and didn't think much of it. They had heard of each other's names through mutual friends for several years, but had never met until that night. It came time for the slow dance, and as they looked around the room they realized they were the only two without partners. He asked her to dance and she said yes. They slow danced to "Better Together" by Jack Johnson and it felt effortless. They enjoyed the rest of their night laughing, talking, hanging out with friends and eating McDonald's french fries. After the night was over they went their separate ways to finish college... When Fall of 2017 came around, he had just started working on the Saddleback Junior High Ministry team where she was interning for a year. They caught each other's eye, realizing they had slow danced together the night of their friend's wedding. It was a great year of getting to know each other, running events and doing ministry together. Something clicked for him as he realized he was falling for this girl. It came towards the end of her internship and he knew he had to say something. He took her down to the San Clemente pier and told her that he wanted to pursue dating her. From that moment on, they happily dated for a year and a half before both their lives changed.
It was the night before the big day... They had been staying in Canada for the week with her friend from college. The plan was to head to her favorite spot in the beautiful mountains of Banff National Park. She had always gone to this place when visiting with her friend and wanted to show him. What she didn't know was that he had a plan all along. As they were preparing for the trip, they looked at the weather report for the next day, and it showed a terrible snow storm. It was their last day in Canada and they had to make the trek. It was 4:30 in the morning and they looked outside and everything was covered in snow. They faced the storm and drove out to Lake Louise, one of the destination spots she loved so much. As they walked towards the lake, he pulled her aside to go for a walk. He handed her a letter, got down on one knee and asked "Will you marry me?"
