Before we tell the story of how we met, we would like to introduce ourselves. The bride is Boahemaa Adu-Oppong (friends call her Bo) and she is originally from Houston, TX (born in Dallas, TX but that’s not important). She graduated from Rice University in 2011 and has a PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Population Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. She currently works as the Director of Computational Biology at Arana Biosciences, a start-up in Boston, MA. The groom is Aaron Ford and he is originally from the west side (the best side) of St. Louis, MO. He graduated from Missouri State with a BA in urban and regional planning. He currently works for TSA (ask him about the craziest thing he has seen at work). It all started with a swipe to the right on June 2, 2020. After chatting on the app for a few days, Aaron invited Boahemaa to La Vallesana in south St. Louis. Aaron ordered his go-to dish, a quesadilla with a large margarita, and once we started talking, we couldn’t stop. We had a great time getting to know one another that Boahemaa was almost late to a tutoring session! On the second date, Boahemaa invited Aaron over and cooked him lobster, steak and mashed potatoes from scratch and as they say… the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. After dinner, Boahemaa poured two glasses of apple crown and once Aaron began to feel his liquor, she asked him to sing for her. Miguel and Kendrick Lamar’s How Many Drinks came on and he sang away. They both were captivated after that date. On September 12th, they decided to be official and on October 20th, Aaron was the first one to say I love you. Fast forward to July 22nd 2021 and we closed on our first home and moved to Houston, TX. Some would say, Boahemaa kidnapped Aaron but let the record show that Aaron knew he had met his one and only. On March 7, 2023 we welcomed our first child, Allen Donyina (named after Aaron’s father and Boahemaa’s grandfather). On April 22, 2023, Aaron planned a surprise proposal dinner with close family and friends. Now that you know our story, we can’t wait to celebrate our union with all of you, our family and friends!
