We prepared for this climb (unlike the others). We had our packs, hiking poles, a carrier for Dallas, and even his sunglasses for when we cleared the treeline. It was important to me that he came with us. I wanted the whole family to the top. It was a rough start. Two trails were closed for the first half leading us on a much more difficult path. Dallas made it 3/4 of a mile and he was in the carrier for most of the hike. Chelsea carried the food and spare gear and I carried Dallas. I was so anxious to get to the top. My heart was so full. I was too excited and kept a fast pace behind her. She kept saying ”you lead then!” But I had to hide the ring box in my pocket and wanted to catch her if she slipped. Once we reached 1/2 a mile out (which felt like 5) it started to really hit me. I tried going over everything I wanted to say in my head a hundred times. We were exhausted by the end and I just kept trying to encourage her to keep going. When we finally made it to the top, I went into recon mode looking for the right place. I wanted something private and scenic. She went in the building for a moment and I found the spot. Between the train tracks and building, overlooking the mountain side. We were in the clouds, literally! I set up the camera for the “family picture” and followed her as she carried Dallas. With my heart pounding.. here it comes... the months of preparing to tell her how she means everything to me....how she is my dream come true, shes my person, and I want to spend the rest of my life going on adventures and chasing our dreams together. We get to the spot.. she turns and.. I froze. Unreal... my throat swelled and could barely speak. I dropped to one knee and she let out “BABE... no... are you serious!?” I couldn't speak. I barely got out “will you marry me?” On top of Mount Washington..In the sky...with the clouds surrounding us...I felt like I was in heaven. She said yes❤️ What a day.
