Acadia National Park
The Park is located southwest of the town of Bar Harbor, preserving about half Mount Desert Island. The park contains the tallest mountain on the Atlantic Coast of the United States, Cadillac Mountain. There is car and bus touring along the park's paved loop road.
Bass Harbor Lighthouse
Bass Harbor Lighthouse was built in 1858 and is one of the most prominent landmarks in Acadia National Park. It is located on the Southwest corner of Mount Desert Island on top of a rocky cliff.
Thunder Hole
Thunder Hole is a carved out inlet along the rocky eastern shoreline of Mount Desert Island. The best place in Acadia National Park to experience the thunder of the sea against the rocky shores of Maine.
Sand Beach
Sand Beach is tucked into Newport Cove between the cliffs of Great Head and the towering rock face of The Beehive (a great hike) on the east side of Mount Desert Island, not far from Bar Harbor along the Park Loop Road.
