Starting in 2025, ETIAS will become available for US Citizens to travel to countries in the EU. ETIAS is an optional online application to streamline border crossings. The ETIAS is scheduled to start sometime in early 2025 but will not be mandatory for the first 3-6 months of implementation.

Dublin Airport

Dublin is Ireland's largest airport and has the most convenient flights from the US. There is a great bus system that takes you directly from Dublin airport to Galway City Centre! Car rentals are also available but you may wish to make those reservations soon if you want to reserve an automatic. Please note that most US car insurances do not provide coverage in Ireland. Note: A number of airlines in the Dublin airport has US pre-clearance for immigration on many returning flight to the US. It is recommended to arrive to the airport three hours before your departure time for the added security lines.

Bus Information from Dublin to Galway

Buses run every 30 minutes between Dublin Airport (DUB) and Galway. The earliest departure is at 01:15 in the morning, and the last departure from Dublin Airport (DUB) is at 23:55 which arrives into Galway at 02:45. All services run direct with no transfers required, and take on average 2h 48m.
