Three years ago on October 7th 2018, a beautiful Miami carnival Sunday afternoon, I (Max), locked eyes on the woman that I knew would someday become my wife. I remember it as if it were yesterday, here I was fetting and behaving wutless when by what can only be fate, I ran into my “soon to be” brother-in-law Jermaine. We shared a brief conversation about our Belizean flags…if memory serves well, Jermaine commented "I like your flag" (my big belize flag) and I replied "I like da one deh tuh”, we instantly became friends and continued to fete. Shortly thereafter I ran into a familiar face (Aunt Avril) who then introduced me to a beautiful goddess, my Priya. I remember instantly thinking that I had to get to know her, so being my bold self, I asked for her number and told her we should link up at the party after…and boy am I happy that we did.
As time progressed, we spent a lot of time together. Priya made me feel comfortable and welcomed, especially seeing I was away from home and family. We spent most if not all holidays together, such as Thanksgiving in Miami and thereafter Belize for Christmas. As our love grew, Priya became pregnant, and I must confess it went straight uphill from there, my love for her magnified and I was assured that she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Life and work threw some curveballs our way placing distance and oceans between us (In July 2019 I was deployed to the middle east, and quite honestly it was the longest 6 months especially since MJ (our son) was due in August and we had to be apart) but it is true what they say, absence does make the heart grow fonder. Upon my return stateside in 2020 my heart was filled with joy when I was able to hold our new born son in my arms for the first time some 5 months later, see the holder of the key to my heart and rejoin what was now our expanded family. Since then my love has continued to grow and grow and grow. Priya and I got married in Destin Florida in 2019 sans the pomp and circumstance and since life and work has now allowed us a period of normalcy, we would now like to now indulge in the grandeur and celebrate this special moment with each and every one of you 🤎 Thank you guys for coming!
