FAQs

Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about the wedding day, from logistics to dress code and everything in between. If there's anything else you'd like to know that isn't covered here, please don't hesitate to reach out to us on 07715 389 296.
Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

We need to provide our final headcount to the venue 4-6 weeks before the wedding, so we kindly ask all guests to RSVP online via our wedding website. Your invitation will include a QR code and the web address to make it easy. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Where is the wedding taking place?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held at Newton Hall, High Newton, Newton by the Sea, Alnwick, NE66 3DZ.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

For day guests, please arrive at the venue no later than 12:45pm for a prompt 1:30pm start. Unfortunately, any guest arriving once the ceremony has begun will not be able to attend the ceremony. Any guests staying overnight at Newton Hall can check in from 3pm. Our venue will securely store your luggage until this time. For evening guests, our reception will start at 7:30pm and will end at 12:00am.

Question

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to limited numbers, we're only able to accommodate guests who are formally invited. If you've received a plus one, it will be clearly noted on your invitation. Otherwise, we ask that only the named people on the invitation are in attendance. Thank you for your understanding!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

We've chosen to make our wedding and reception an adults-only event. For this reason, we're unable to accommodate children and kindly request they are not in attendance. We hope you understand and are still able to make it!

Question

I am travelling to your venue, where should I stay?

Answer

On the Travel & Accommodation page on our website, you'll find a list of nearby places to stay, along with several taxi services to make your visit as smooth as possible. We have secured discounted rates for our guests at the Joiner's Arms and Newton Hall (Garden Rooms). There is a booking link on our Travel & Accommodation page or alternatively you can call if you would like to take advantage of these rates. We advise to book as soon as possible due to high demand.

Question

Do guests have reserved rooms at Newton Hall?

Answer

There are 15 rooms in the Main Hall at our venue, and these have been reserved for certain wedding guests. However, not all guests will have a room reserved. If a room has been reserved for you, this will be noted on your invitation.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Our venue has ample, free on-site parking for all guests. Car parking attendants will be on hand during the day to assist you.

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

The Main Hall is an 18th Century Grade II listed building with a flight of stairs to the main entrance therefore is not wheelchair accessible. However, the function room for our ceremony and evening reception room are fully accessible.

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

We do ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony, we’d like that time to be unplugged. For the rest of the wedding, we encourage guests to take pictures.

Question

Can I post wedding photos on social media?

Answer

We kindly ask that you wait to share any wedding photos on social media until after we've had the chance to post a few ourselves.

Question

Gifts

Answer

The most important thing to us is that you are able to celebrate with us on our wedding day. Please do not feel obligated to give anything else. However, if you wish to give a gift, we will gratefully accept a small contribution to our honeymoon.

Question

What is the dress code for your wedding?

Answer

We'd love to see our family and friends dress up with us! So, we are requesting that all of our guests dress in formal attire. We kindly ask ladies to refrain from wearing white. The wedding party will be dressed in green, so you may wish to avoid similar shades. The wedding will be indoors, but as it's February and by the coast, it may be a bit chilly - so bring something warm to wear!

Question

What type of food will be served at your wedding?

Answer

We’ll be serving canapés during the drinks reception, followed by a 5-course wedding breakfast with a choice of starter, main, and dessert. Our evening food - Sunday Roast Stotties - will be served at 9:30pm.

Question

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Answer

As the bride, her sister and the mother of the bride are coeliac, the wedding menu will be largely gluten-free to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. We are also happy to cater to other dietary restrictions or allergies - please let Amy know as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

While we won't have an open bar, there will be a selection of drinks available to purchase throughout the day.

Question

Where will wedding updates be posted?

Answer

All wedding updates will be shared on our website and/or sent directly to you using the contact information we have for you.
