We met through Kyle's dad, Rick, and stepmom, Stephanie. Chelsea, my friend (and bridesmaid) and I attended a Chili Cook-Off event at the Winter Park Farmer's Market. As we were standing in line for chili, Stephanie overheard us discuss something she had never heard of before--trefoils. Nonplussed, Stephanie interjected, "What is a trefoil?" I responded, "A trefoil is the Girl Scout shortbread cookie. I'm from Kentucky, and that's what we call them there". Stephanie pointed to her husband a few feet behind her and said, "He's from Kentucky, do you want to talk to him?" I responded, "Only if he likes UK basketball." (This was during UK's near perfect season 2014-15). After a brief pause, she exclaimed, "Yes, he likes UK basketball". After meeting Rick and exchanging pleasantries about the BBN, we said, "Nice to meet you" and started to walk away. Stephanie said, "Well, one of you should meet his son". I remarked, "She's married so it will have to be me!" At that time, they whipped out their phones, trying to show me pictures of Kyle and get my information. I would only give them my Instagram and where I worked. I knew that would be enough information if they really wanted him to contact me. They begged for a photo, but instead of a single shot, I insisted we take a group shot since we were new friends. Rick sent the group photo to Kyle and said, "Look at what you missed". Stephanie sent Kyle my Instagram (impressive that she remembered the unique spelling) and my work bio, job duties and all. Hesitant at first, Kyle sent me an email to my Rollins email account less than a week later. After exchanging phone numbers and texting, we met a week after at Lucky Lure in Ivanhoe Village on March 11, 2015. After meeting him, I knew Kyle had to remain in my life! - Megan
We arrived at Anna Maria at noon on July 27th. We spent the day swimming & sun bathing. The whole afternoon I couldn't help but think that in a couple hours, both of our lives would change forever. Around 5pm we decided that we would head in to clean up & get ready for the night. We had already planned our normal beach routine of watching the sunset, grabbing a drink, & then having dinner. Only this night would be different. I already had a blueprint (literally drawn up) of how I wanted our setup as we watched the sunset. Two chairs, Prosecco & glasses, every card we had given each other, my guitar, a giant heart drawn in the sand with a rose in the middle, & a path of rose petals leading to her chair. I know, cheesy; she makes me watch a lot of The Bachelor. I knew I needed time to do this without her knowing, but how? All of a sudden, she said "I'm gonna take a nap". Perfect. So I started preparing, going from the beach to our condo, getting covered in sweat & sand. I got everything to my liking, showered, and we headed out to watch the sunset. When she walked up to our spot, she was surprised, but we played it cool (pretty sure she knew what was happening). We drank Prosecco, read cards to each other & reminisced of our shared history. Sunset--that’s my cue. I grabbed my guitar, played her the song I learned (Yours by Russell Dickerson), and once it was finished, asked her to join me on the sand heart. What happened next? She said no. Plot twist. She clarified no, not here as onlookers gathered behind us. I told her that this moment is our moment & none of those people mattered (except the girl taking secret photos, she mattered). I asked her to reconsider, she looked around the condo (less than romantic) & agreed to return. Also, what she didn't know was that our specific spot had a live webcam with our family & friends watching. We returned to the sand heart. I got down on one knee, & asked the most important question, "Will you accept my final rose?" - Kyle
