Sam and I met on October 21st, 2011 at the Elkhorn South vs Elkhorn high school football game. I had heard of Sam before, because at the time I was trying to get him and my friend to date! As time went on we had similar mutual friends and would find ourselves hanging out time after time. Finally, the following football season we would meet up at my parents house or a friends after every Friday night football game. Sam ended up taking me to homecoming that year and not too long after he asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history!

Sam and I had just finished dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. After dinner we were trying to come up with plans for the night. I had received a text from my dad to come over and enjoy drinks with my parents and their friends, but didn't mention it right away. Not knowing that was to lure me over to my parents, I didn't mention it to Sam because I was really hoping he would propose to me that night. Finally, after giving up the idea that a proposal was going to happen I told Sam we could hang out with my parents. We began to drive over to my parents house and we pulled up into the driveway and I began to open the garage door. Sam then grabbed my attention on the side of the house and then lead me down to the backyard where a "MARRY ME" sign was lit up and he proceeded to ask me to marry him :) I was SO surprised and even more surprised to find that all of our family was inside waiting to celebrate! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives and cannot wait for September 16th, 2023!
