Justin and I met when we both worked at True Value Hardware in Delano. We met at our company Christmas party where we chatted briefly, and then we worked together for the first time a few days after that. It was a Sunday 9-5 shift and I was working the registers while Justin worked helping customers on the floor. In between customers, he would come hang out by the register to keep me company since I couldn't leave. We just made small talk, trying to get to know a little bit about each other that first day we worked together. I learned within 30 minutes of our shift that Justin was a smooth talker because he asked me for my phone number.. and I just gave it to him!! In the weeks following, Justin was VERY persistent in trying to get together outside of work. I kept making excuses about why I couldn't, until I felt guilty and agreed. We went to the mall and then out to lunch where he asked if I would go on a date with him that weekend. I surprised myself again because I said yes! The Proposal: Fast forward to summer of 2018; We decided we wanted to make our 5th dating anniversary special by going on our first "airplane trip" together to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in January of 2019. The day we arrived in Punta Cana, we had dinner plans for the fanciest restaurant at the resort. We had spent some time swimming that day so my hair was all kinds of funky, I was sunburnt, and I did not put much effort into my looks before dinner. Justin on the other hand got all dressed up, did his hair, wore his fancy cologne, watch, etc. I didn't think much of it because the restaurant had a specific dress code. After dinner, Justin was very persistent about going for a walk on the beach, to which I replied "NO WAY! It's dark and scary!" He finally convinced me to go, and I am so glad he did! Underneath an amazing full moon, exactly 5 years from our first date, Justin asked me to marry him on the beach in Punta Cana. It was a trip we will never forget!
