Things To Do

Here are a few suggestions of things to do in Albany to help fill the weekend with lots of fun memories! Please let us know you have any questions, we'd be more than happy to offer more tips or advice on things to do in the area!

Five Rivers Environmental Education Center Five

56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY 12054
, (518) 475-0291

This is a great walkable park in Delmar, not far from Courtney and Roland's house or the reception venue. It is one the flattest places around Albany, making it a good place to go for a walk or run! It also has a lot of educational and environmental conservation activities that go on here, so a good place to check out for kids!

Thacher Park Visitor Center

Thacher Park Visitor Center

John Boyd Thacher State Park, Voorheesville, NY 12186

Thatcher Park is a very popular park for Albany residents to go to hike, picnic, bike ride, and enjoy the views! It isn't a high peak, but it certainly a challenging hike that will make you feel good to have accomplished it when you get to the top! And the views are really worth it!

Kayak Shak

251 Staffords Bridge Road, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
, (518) 587-9788

This Shak is Roland and Courtney's favorite place to rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards! It is all way in Saratoga, approximately 40 minutes from their house, but well worth it! The Shak is in the north end of the Saratoga Lake; if you paddle north, you go up this cute creek and get to see really beautiful Saratoga homes, and if you paddle south, you enter the huge Saratoga Lake! Also, if you are feeling up to it, this lake is a good place to rent a boat for the day and enjoy the water! Let us know if you'd like to do that, boat rental places are also located on the lake :)

Boat House

2855 Aqueduct Road, Schenectady, NY 12309
, (518) 393-5711

This is a kayak/SUP rental place located right in Schenectady, making it a lot closer than the Saratoga rental place! They offer very reasonable rates and the view of the Mohawk River. It is a great way to spend a summer afternoon!

Crossgates Mall

1 Crossgates Mall Road, Albany, NY 12203
, (518) 869-3522

Crossgates Mall offers a whole slew of nighttime activities for kids that may help to keep them entertained when the parents are at the wedding! Crossgates offers a slew of restaurant options, a Dave and Busters to entertain them with arcade and carnival games, Lucky Strike Social which offers bowling, ping pong, and a few other table games, in addition to a movie theater where the latest film can be seen on the big screen! (Lucky Strike can sometimes get crowded on a Saturday night, so you might want to make a reservation for bowling!)

Buck Mountain Trailhead

1750 Pilot Knob Road, Kattskill Bay, NY 12844
, (518) 623-1200

If your feeling really adventurous and want to get out of town and into the woods, we recommend Buck Mountain. It is about 30 minutes north of Saratoga, about an hour and 15 minutes north of Albany. It is a challenging hike, sure to get your heart rate up, and one that will provide spectacular views at the top! We love this hike because it is within a short drive away, and gives you the adrenaline rush and exercise kick you yearn for after working all week!
