How we met

How this all began

It all started when Trevor got a call from Dave asking if he was available to help with the Totally Trollwood theatre production Oklahoma. He took the job. At that same time, Lisa was volunteering with Shrek the musical for Trollwoods MainStage production. During her volunteering, Lisa was offered a position as a scenic artist in the musical Oklahoma. After a bit of thought and consideration she took the job. On the first day on set Trevor and Dave walked up to Lisa and Dave introduced Trevor by saying, “this is Trevor, don’t let him paint.” Lisa obviously took that as a challenge and made him do a little bit of painting. During the run of the show, Lisa and Trevor became close friends. During the final week of the show Lisa nervously asked Trevor out to dinner and a movie. To her relief and delight he said yes.

The proposal

She said YES!

The morning of the proposal, I came home from church and I attempted to make Lisa leave the house. She finally agreed to go out for dinner at Denny’s. After dinner I took her for a drive like we usually do but this time it would be a drive down memory lane. I first drove her around Davies High school. This place was important to us because it was the place we held our second show working together. It was also the place we spent on our one year anniversary working on the set of My Son Pinocchio. I then drove her to the Moorhead high school. The place where we had been introduced and the place where we started dating. As we drove around the Moorhead high school it began to rain heavily and a large lighting storm was nearby. I pulled out of the parking lot just as the heaviest rain came down. I continued to drive through the rain and just as I turned into Bluestem the rain subsided. I parked the truck and got Lisa out. I led her to the back of the mainstage and we stood there talking about why this place was important. I hugged Lisa for a while when we talked. As we broke apart from the hug, I went down on one knee, pulling the ring box from my pocket as I knelt. Opening the ring box as I asked, “Lisa Jensine Jensen....will you marry me?” Lisa began crying and managed to get out a yes. We hugged and just as we got back to the truck the rain began to fall again.

The proposal

He Proposed! (Part 1)

The morning of the proposal, trevor came home from church and was adamant that we go out to dinner. I finally agreed and he took me to Denny’s for a late dinner. During dinner he was awkwardly quiet and I actually thought he was sick because he wasn’t finishing his food. he then wanted to take me for a drive saying that we hadn’t gone for one in quite a while. Driving around is a normal occurrence for me so I didn’t have any suspect anything else was going on. He first took me to the Davies high school and drove me around the parking lot all the while talking about why this place was important and how we had had our one year anniversary here while working on the set of My Son Pinocchio. We joked about how we had our one year anniversary dinner sitting in the back room. Where we are sub sandwiches in the glow of battery operated Candles he jokingly grabbed after I made the comment of “this is a perfect anniversary all we need is some candlelight” trevor than began driving me into Moorehead. Once we circled the Moorehead high school and went into the parking lot, I had a suspicion that something might be coming. He talked about how this is where we first met, talked till 4 AM after the last show, and where he kissed me for the first time. Just as we were turning out of the parking lot the rain began to fall down heavy and my heart sank a little bit. I thought for sure something maybe coming. I thought maybe this was his dry run and perhaps he didn’t account for the rain. As we turned onto the familiar road that we often take to get back home I sat quietly holding his hand and staring out the window watching the rain.

The Proposal

He Proposed! (Part 2)

As we continued to drive he suddenly turned onto Bluestem Road heading towards the Bluestem amphitheater. My mind was racing not knowing what was going on. I was excited yet scared all at the same time. He pulled into the parking lot and I then noticed the rain had stopped. He took me by the hand and got me out of the truck and took me for a walk. We walked up to the back of the Bluestem amphitheater and as we reaches the loading dock, he embrace me in a hug. While he held me, he told me about how if I would have never came to this place we never would have met and how if he would have never taken that job we would’ve never of met. He was so happy that we both took that job. As he released me from his embrace, he got down on one knee and pull the white box out of his pocket. He open the box, revealing this perfect ring. He looked up at me and said, “Lisa Jensine Jensen, Will you marry me?” I instantly began to cry and I managed to squeak out a “yes” before he grabbed me and hugged me. He slid the ring on my finger and we walked back to the truck. The rain had given up for just enough time for him to propose as we started driving it began to storm again. I couldn’t stop shaking.
