Jacob and I met through mutual friends, and not long after, he asked me out on our first date. We went down to Carlsbad for dinner and watched the sunset, talking the entire time and realizing just how much we had in common. By the end of the night, when Jacob dropped me off, he casually told me he’d be picking me up again the next day — and he did. From that point on, we were pretty much inseparable. Even though we were living nearly an hour apart at the time, we somehow managed to see each other every day, commuting back and forth without thinking twice about it. Our lives blended quickly — meeting each other’s families and friends, spending holidays together, and traveling near and far — and it didn’t take long for us to know we wanted to spend a lifetime together. On August 29th, Jacob and I went to San Clemente for what I thought was just another one of our usual beach days. Instead, he completely surprised me with a proposal. Jake custom designed my ring, using a fourth-generation family heirloom as the main stone, which made the moment even more meaningful. We spent the rest of the day soaking it all in and celebrating with family. After taking some time to think about what we wanted for our wedding, we decided to elope at the San Diego courthouse. Just the two of us. Simple, intimate, and exactly right for us. On our wedding day, Jacob surprised me with a diamond necklace — my first heirloom, and something I hope to pass down one day. Now we’re packing up our things and preparing for a cross-country move to Charleston, South Carolina, where we’re excited to put down roots and build our life together. We’re so excited to keep choosing each other, wherever life takes us next.
