How We Met

07.20.2013

It was a hot July evening at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp when this young farmer boy named Josh walked up to a group of girls ready to impress one of them. He didn't know who would be impressed, but he was hoping someone would show some interest. This super shy girl (yes, thats me!) was standing in a group of girls, watching this boy walk up. I thought he was pretty cute, but he seemed a lot older than me so I wasn’t getting my hopes up. He started off by saying, "hey, have you ever heard about prolapsing sheep"? Us being city girls, not knowing what that was, we said "uh no, what is it"? Little did we know what we were in for. I suggest to anyone that doesn’t know what that is, doesn't find out or ever use it as a pick-up line (unless you’re Josh and insanely weird things get you the ladies). Still after being told what it was, I went and did some detailed google research on my own. When Josh came back the following night, I told him that I had looked up what prolapsing sheep was. He knew right then and there that I was interested. Every night for the next two weeks, Josh came back and brought me sweet teas, shared hour long conversations by his truck Fred and showed off his hilarious tree jumping skills (you can always ask him for a demostration)! At the end of camp, there was a big bonfire as a last hurah for the season. We sat together and talked till the very end. Right as the bonfire was ending, Josh got pulled away to another conversation and disappeared and I ended up leaving to go back to my cabin with a few friends. I felt so sad that I had not gotten his number before the night had ended and I told my friend who said, “he’s just a boy! You’ll be fine”! Just as I was walking into my cabin, I saw Josh (thank God!!) My friend and I walked over to him and we all started talking. While this was all happening, Josh kept staring at me until he finally stepped closer and asked if I had a cellphone. We exchanged numbers and have been texting ever since!

The Proposal

11.27.2019

Josh and I had been together now for a little over six years and I being a typical woman, was getting impatient with him. Lot's of exciting changes in our lives had come with 2019. Josh had been blessed with an amazing full time job with the Slippery Rock Police Department, I had finally started nursing school to follow God’s plan for my life and us buying our future home together! We finally had things coming together in preparation of us “finally” tying the knot. On November 27th, 2019, after we signed the papers on our new home, Josh took me back to the house, which he secretly, with the help of my best friend (and MOH) Alissa, had decorated our living room with string lights, candles and rose petals! Josh carried me over the threshold of our home and when we walked into the living room, there in the center of the room, was a rose petal shaped heart which he then proceeded to pull me into. He gave me the best speech from his heart (oh my goodness, I cried, it was beautiful!!), got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES! Followed by a lot more tears...which were happy ones of course! My friend Alissa then popped out of the closet, from where she had been filming the entire time! The proposal had been such a beautiful unexpected surprise amd made such an ordinary day one of the happiest and most important days of our lives!
