We met at a music festival called Nocturnal Groove, at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden, Utah. It was an easy place to fall in love, filled with music, art, nature, and a thirst for excitement. Justin and I met on the first day of the festival, as my friend Sidney and I were setting up our humble two-man tent next to the loud generator that was powering Justin’s 5th wheel trailer large enough to house an entire family. Sidney said he reminded her of a golden retriever with his long blonde hair and friendly personality. I laughed and agreed, and thought yes, a very cute golden retriever. That night it rained and it poured and I found myself taking shelter in the back of my little hatchback Ford Focus without a whole lot to keep me warm. So when Justin found me there and invited me in to his trailer, there was no question about it. The sun came up before we knew it and we spent the rest of the weekend dancing, laughing and getting to know each other. I mean, I think it’s as close as it gets to love at first sight.
We went on a Sunday drive up Millcreek Canyon and got out of the car for a snowy walk with Tomo. Justin got down on one knee, then switched to the other so both knees were wet... Then he said simply, “Lisa I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” And obviously I said YES.
