Things To DoThings To Do

Here are a few of our DFW favorites. Please let us know if there's anything in particular you want to do in Texas and we would be more than happy to help!
Stockyards Boulevard

Stockyards BoulevardStockyards Boulevard

Stockyards Boulevard, Fort Worth, TX 76164

The Stockyards was one of the first stops of Michael's first visit to Texas with Kat. There's so much to do including dancing at Billy Bob's, riding a mechanical bull, browsing the local shops for artisanal Texas souvenirs, seeing live cattle, getting lost in a maze, and more!

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Fort Worth Botanic GardenFort Worth Botanic Garden

3220 Botanic Garden Boulevard, Fort Worth, TX 76107

We got engaged here which makes us a little biased towards these gardens. Nevertheless, if you want a picturesque background or experience beautiful plants and landscapes, this is the place for you!

State Fair of Texas

State Fair of TexasState Fair of Texas

Parry Ave &, Exposition Ave, Dallas, TX 75210

Highly recommend checking out the State Fair of Texas if you haven't already! If you don't take a picture with Big Tex, did you even go to Texas?

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Perot Museum of Nature and SciencePerot Museum of Nature and Science

2201 North Field Street, Dallas, TX 75201

As you can see, Michael was mesmerized by the Perot museum, and for good reason. This museum has many interactive stations which makes it even more fun and perfect for all ages.

Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over TexasSix Flags Over Texas

Arlington, TX 76011

Six Flags is great for those who want a little bit more thrill in their visit. Definitely recommend looking into their special events going on such as Oktoberfest.

Fort Worth Barbell

955 North Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76111

Whenever we are in Fort Worth, we always work out at Fort Worth Barbell, a locally-owned gym, which is perfect for lifting fiends. If you plan on working out, let us know and maybe we can squeeze a workout together!

Buccees

We are huge Buc-ee's fans!! (Even though Harper's face says otherwise.) They're essentially the Walmart version of gas stations and, as they say, everything is bigger in Texas.

The Gun Range

TX

When in Texas, do as the Texans do. We don't have a particular gun range spot that we recommend but if you haven't already, it's never too late to learn how to shoot or work on target practice. Michael is surprisingly very good at this.

Pecan Lodge

Pecan LodgePecan Lodge

2702 Main Street, Dallas, TX 75226

We love barbecue! There are tons of barbecue restaurants all over Texas and it's hard to go wrong with any of them. One of the places that we like is the Pecan Lodge in Dallas. It is also in a cute neighborhood if you want to browse local shops.

Austin

AustinAustin

Austin, TX

If you don't mind driving (~3-4 hours), Austin is a great nearby city to explore! There are so many things to do in Austin including exploring the shops and restaurants on SoCo, taking a dip at Barton Springs, visiting the state capitol, enjoying amazing barbecue at Salt Lick, and having a drink on Rainey Street. Kat and Michael love Austin and can't wait to visit again.

Casinos

CasinosCasinos

If you're in a betting mood, there are local casinos nearby such as Choctaw or Winstar for those in the mood for Blackjack, Baccarat, Poker, Roulette, and more. (Please note: Michael and I haven't been to these casinos.)
