Our tale begins on a cold, winter’s night with a money-grubbing cheese goblin in a brown, velour track jacket. Upon seeing the goblin--played by Bryan--Kaela is intrigued, thinking, “Hmm. Who is that weirdo?” As she will say many times later, “He keeps doing things that would annoy me if anyone else was doing them, but for some reason, they’re endearing when he does them.” They fail to meet that, though, and it takes another month for them to cross paths again. Bryan confesses that he has written a substantial amount of Star Wars fan fiction to a crowd of people, and--for no conceivable reason--Kaela in the crowd is still intrigued. Later that night at the Wood ‘n’ Tap™, they officially meet. They discuss their worst personal traits, and though neither is completely honest in this regard, it is clear that they are comfortable with each other. They will fail to exchange numbers, and it will take Facebook Messenger to save this young love. Our tale continues on a warm, summer’s night on a beach on a lake. On the way to the beach, Kaela comments that she is ready to be engaged. It’s as if she knows what Bryan has buried deep within his very nice backpack (a gift from Kaela). Bryan--ever calm--sweats profusely. When they arrive at the lake beach, Kaela goes about her day as if it is any other. Bryan coordinates the arrival of her family. Just as they arrive, Tim T--Bryan’s father--starts to make cheeseburgers. Bryan, hoping to surprise Kaela, panics. Heading her family off and having them hide in the woods, Bryan takes Kaela out for a boat ride. As he leaves, he texts a group chat with Kaela’s mom and dad--and Kaela--that he is out on the boat. Kaela sees this text and pretends that she has not. Stopped in the middle of the lake, Bryan asks Kaela to take a picture of them, and pulls out the ring box. Kaela says, “Yes,” and then flags down a boat filled with strangers to tell them she is engaged.
