La’Tia and Darryl met at their alma mater, Norfolk State University. They crossed paths regularly at campus events and grew to become associates. This was the extent of their relationship for several years until one evening La’Tia spotted Darryl at a lounge and said hello just as they always had, except this time she received a different response. (Darryl’s version of this story is that he was mid conversation with another young lady when La’Tia interrupted, haha!) Darryl said to La’Tia, “You’re not getting away from me this time,” and has remained a man of his word. The couple’s commitment to being together was tested and proven early on as Darryl was offered a position in the Washington, D.C. area. La’Tia and Darryl decided that they would travel every weekend to spend time with one another and maintain a long distance relationship. Their sacrifice and patience was rewarded when La’Tia was later offered an opportunity to relocate with her company and join Darryl. Years later they still find themselves living happily in the Washington D.C. area. Two years ago, December, during an intimate dinner with family and friends, staged to simply be in celebration of one of La’Tia’s favorite holidays, Darryl asked La’Tia to be his wife. La’Tia and Darryl are so excited to have you join them as they begin this next phase in their life & love together and can’t wait to celebrate with you in October!
