We like to consider ourselves OG's of online dating, as match.com seems old fashioned now but sure enough, that's how we first "met". We chatted back and forth for a week or two before finally meeting in person, on Felspar St. in Pacific Beach. We spent all night talking on the beach and immediately went on our first 'real date' at the drive in the very next day. Five years, four homes, 3,000 miles driven cross country, and 2 little girls later... <3
Not a lot of people know this, but Matt actually proposed twice. The first time, I was about 12 weeks pregnant, out for Matt's birthday dinner with the entire Crichton Family (who were all in on it), and I thought Matt had gotten sick from his dinner because he was acting weird! My parents asked Matt if he had gotten everything he wanted for his birthday and before I knew it he was proposing at our dinner table. Six months later, two perfect little girls were born and any talks of a wedding quickly got put on the back burner. Our world, rightfully so, was all about them. About two years after his original proposal, I took Matt to a Sixers game and dinner in the city for his birthday. During half time, Matt suggested we leave the game early and walk to a spot he had seen on the way (I should have known something was up) A short cab ride and 20 minutes of walking around later to find 'this spot' - we finally stumble upon a gorgeous, private street completely lit up for the holidays. I had dropped a few hints over the years that I wanted him to re-propose when it was time to concentrate on a wedding, so he did. This time it was just the two of us, surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights - but the answer was the same. xo
