We met at Mr. Goodbar while I was visiting a friend. After watching people sing upstairs, my friend and I went downstairs to play darts. The darts area was packed, and just as I was about to head back up, he stopped me and asked if I wanted to play with him and that simple moment started everything. Before I returned to the city, he invited me to brunch at Forty Thieves. We spent the day walking around Elmwood, visiting open botanical garden houses, exploring the Japanese Garden, watching a Shakespeare play in Delaware Park, and ending the night at House of Charm. Even though distance made things tricky at first, we kept finding our way back to each other. Over time, through visits and lots of communication, we grew closer, eventually living together and building the life we share today.
She’s always loved doing little photoshoots of us with her phone and tripod. We had planned one on July 3, the day before our anniversary, little did she know, I had other plans! I had actually gotten the ring two months earlier and knew this was the perfect day to propose. The weather was beautiful, the sunset over Lake Erie was stunning, and a few people were around watching us. I got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with me. And of course… she said YES!!!
