How We Met

"There is no way we would ever date"

We first met each other at Ponce de Leon Middle School. Michael jokes that I "hated" him (not true) because he always said I had a mean mug on. He also says that I was in the "popular" group with all the IB kids and had my own little clique... also not true LOL. I would see him playing basketball on the courts early in the morning before class, and would also see him in the cafeteria at lunch walking around with his headphones in and hoodie over his head. If you knew Michael then, he'd walk around talking to people at the lunch table and would ask them if they wanted any of their left over food.. the kid had an appetite LOL. We knew of each other, but were never friends. It was the same story for high school. We went to Coral Gables Senior High together and remained nothing more than acquaintances. However, there were times that, due to mutual friends, we would sit in Mr. Molina's science class together. Again, Michael held the same sentiment that he always had... that I did not like him because I never really spoke to him. I remember my friends saying that he was actually pretty smart and independent, and I thought that was cool for a lot of the guys our age. I vividly remember him helping our friend with a pre-calculus question and thought to myself... "okay I guess he's pretty smart". Secretly, I always wondered a little more about his story... but we never pursued being more than acquaintances as it never aligned for us to become more than that. Fast forward to sophomore year of college, we were both attending FIU. We were re-introduced through mutual friends and would often meet up at our friend's house. I vividly remember Michael getting to our friend's house with his BJ uniform, being so tired from working so much yet still making an effort to show up and hang out with us. After a couple of times of us hanging out, one night, our friends joked to him that "I totally wanted him". I had heard about this, and texted him the next morning and let him know that this wasn't actually the case... that I actually wasn't looking for a relationship or anything serious. But little did we know, that text would turn into multiple texts, that would turn into a friendship that blossomed into a relationship. In the course of over a few months, Michael began renting the efficiency at my mom's house (yes, we were still JUST friends at this point). We were bound to get close as we'd get lunch together, study together, do home work together, and I would take him to work. He asked me to be his girlfriend on December 18th, 2019 and asked me to marry him on December 17th, 2024. Since we were just 19 year old kids, we have managed to graduate college together, start our careers together, bought a beautiful home with the loving support of our family and friends, have two amazing fur babies that we love dearly (Luna and Nova), and have made countless trips and memories. We can't wait to celebrate the pinnacle of our love story with you all!
