Nick and I met at UNC Chapel Hill in the fall of 2016! We quickly became close friends and were practically inseparable. A few months later, despite knowing that Nick would soon graduate and move to Spain for a year, we decided to try our hand at dating and see if things worked out as more than friends. We were nervous it might ruin our friendship, but it ended up being the best decision we could have made!

We decided to take a weekend trip to Asheville in July of 2021 to get out of Cary and do some hiking with our pup, Luna. We woke up very early Saturday morning to go hiking to a waterfall trail in DuPont State Forest. Nick brought his camera to take some photos of us at the waterfall, and little did I know he had the entire thing planned out. Mid-photo, Nick got down on one knee and proposed (and thankfully did not drop the ring in the water!). We had the waterfall to ourselves for over an hour afterwards, and it was such a quiet, peaceful and special moment for the two of us to take in what had just happened. Later that night, Nick surprised me with both sets of our parents at dinner in Biltmore Forest. It was truly an unforgettable weekend!
