Our Story

August 10, 2018

Jason and Grace met through a dating website - eHarmony! (Who says online dating doesn't work)? For their first date, they ate at a Korean noodle joint. Grace was 10 minutes late. Jason actually didn't get upset, which showed Grace that he was going to be a keeper. However, Grace waved at him as she approached the restaurant and Jason didn't acknowledge her wave. (Minus points...) But THEN, he greeted her with a hug (Bonus points)! They enjoyed conversation about church, serving, family, food, Disney, Marvel, 90's music, their twin cars. This continued over dessert. And like a gentleman, Jason walked Grace back to her car at the end of the night (bonus points).Their second date was- guess where? DISNEYLAND. All day. NO ESCAPE. The ultimate test... Jason was sad when he learned that Grace was moving back to northern California. How did they survive this long distance relationship? Through prayer, counseling, Southwest flights, videochats, handwritten letters, flowers, deep and sometimes difficult conversations. By God's grace and His perfect timing, Grace was able to move back down to LA this year. The proposal... Jason sneakily arranged to meet with Grace's father to ask for his blessing. Of course, Grace could smell something cooking. From then on, she had to dress cutely and make sure her nails looked nice on all their dates. On August 31, 2019, Jason began the day with a trick proposal location. Grace was convinced it HAD to be that day. Or was it??...YES! Jason ultimately proposed to Grace with a photobook he made that included pictures of their adventures so far, and of course the ring that he custom-designed (bonus points)! What's next?... We are so thankful for our family and friends. Please celebrate with us as we begin this new chapter together. "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." - 1 John 4:10-11
