The First Date

September 27, 2015

Micaelyn always jokes that this was their first date that they didn't know was a date. Tony reached out and invited her to do homework together at a cafe. He picked her up, paid for her lunch, and they did a lot more talking than homework. Later, they explored downtown Schenectady and ran to the store to grab a few items for a night of worship with friends. After an evening of worshipping with friends, everyone began to leave, and soon it was just Micaelyn, Tony, and two of their good friends. The four spent time gazing at the blood moon, taking pictures, and seeing who could do the best cartwheel. Tony held Micaelyn's hand for the first time, and at the end of the night, he took her home. She excitedly said to her sister, Margaret, "He held my hand! Do you think that means something?" It sure did because later...

The First Yes

October 20, 2015

Tony invited Micaelyn on a date and was bummed to find out that it was likely going to rain. Micaelyn had a feeling that this wasn't going to be any ordinary date. Tony had planned a special picnic where they would explore a local park, take pictures, read Scripture, and enjoy some sparkling apple cider. The date changed quickly, however, when Micaelyn's sister got appendicitis. With Margaret recovering in the hospital, Micaelyn thought that Tony wouldn't ask her out. She was pretty bummed about that. He did come over to help take care of Micaelyn's brothers, and the two embarked on an "adventure" to Home Goods to return something for Micaelyn's mom. There, in the Home Goods parking lot, Tony turned to Micaelyn and said, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Shocked, Micaelyn excitedly said yes, and the rest was history. Until...

How We Met

August 26, 2015

When Micaelyn's friend invited her to a Bible study hosted by Tony, she decided to do a little Facebook stalking. She noticed Tony's cute smile and decided she would check out the Bible study. Little did she know, she was about to meet her husband and her best friends! Both Micaelyn and Tony were instantly attracted to each others' love for Jesus. They continued to talk over Facebook and see each other at Bible study until one day...

The Best Yes

August 30, 2020

Four and a half years threw many ups and downs at Tony and Micaelyn. There were many points when Micaelyn thought Tony was going to propose. In fact, two weeks before he proposed, she was completely convinced that he would pop the question at their friends' wedding. The wedding came and went and there was no proposal, so Micaelyn decided to leave it all in God's hands. Meanwhile, Tony was planning the surprise of a lifetime. A couple of weeks before the proposal, Tony invited Micaelyn to go on a day trip to Rhode Island. Initially excited by the idea of an adventure, Micaelyn agreed. Quickly, however, Micaelyn became less and less enthused with the idea of a beach day. She was ready for fall and wanted to go to bookstores and drink pumpkin spice lattes. Tony didn't mind the idea of going to bookstores, but he also insisted that sometime during the day they had to go to the beach. Even though she didn't feel like swimming, Micaelyn agreed to do the beach to show him the same kind of love. Tony and Micaelyn arrived at the beach, and soon they were having fun splashing in the Atlantic waves. After a nice, long swim, the two decided to embark up the beach to have a picnic. Micaelyn couldn't understand why they just kept walking and walking until they were at a secluded rock pier. They climbed onto the rocks, and Micaelyn set up the picnic while Tony set up the camera to take some pictures. As Micaelyn tried to pose for pictures, Tony said he wrote a poem for her. He read her a love note filled with thoughts on marriage, all of which culminated in the question Micaelyn had been longing to hear: "Will you be the love of my life? Will you marry me?" Micaelyn's squeals of delight gave Tony the answer he'd been longing to hear. Welcome to the end of this chapter, and we are so excited to celebrate with you (wherever you are) as we begin the next chapter as husband and wife.
